A grand and epic look at few outsiders surviving the self-destruction of a corrupt and unstable culture. This film is worth studying.

This film boasts an incredible story and a very impressive soundtrack. Trainspotting includes graphic scenes of drug use, sex and death. One of the finest films to come from Scotland, this movie...

In regards to your opinion that Return of the Jedi is the best Star Wars movie:

Thanks for taking the time to write the article, even though I disagree with almost everything you say, except that Harrison Ford became watchable again. He was by far the best thing about the movie, doing the best he could with an abysmal script that didn't understand his character whatsoever.

This site costs a mint to run. Plus there is all the whores and coke, and 7-8 Chipotle burritos a day for Devin. Franchising and licensing revenue from new bloggers must be proving quite lucrative.

Overlord: Thanx for your good-hearted response. I laughed out loud. I won't waste time arguing about Indy anymore, that ship has sailed. I'll be happy to discuss what it is about Jedi that gives it my preference. Just say the word. Or maybe I'll save it for another blog.
Spike: I've never heard of you either. But cheers and you're welcome to read my stuff and love it or leave it.

Nothing you can say will convince me that the Ewoks aren't terribly out of place in RoTJ. Keep in mind that I really like RoTJ, I do. I just don't think it's anywhere near as good as the first two (at its best, it's as good as the other two: at it's worst, it's awful).

That would be the dullest and most pedantic reckoning ever, you do realise that right?

It's nice to know I'm not alone Arjen. And the people I've seen it with so far have liked it too.
Anyway, since Brasky asked, here's the skinny on Jedi:
First, let's get sentimental reasons out of the way... It's the first one I can remember seeing in a theater. And I saw it three times. On three different continents.
But, basically, what I like about Jedi is that it feels like a fully self-contained adventure film. Yes, you may need the baggage of the previous two episodes to understand little details, but overall I think it is a perfectly pitched action picture that can be fully appreciated on its own terms. It tells a well-paced story with its own beginning, middle and very satisfying ending. I love the arc of the film. I think the opening scenes are extremely effective in setting the tone and rhythm for the rest of the film, which is action-packed, visually rich and exciting.
And although the Ewoks may strike some of us as corny, they are an unusual element in an eclectic adventure film. They don't feel quite as plastic or artificial as Jar Jar Binks or any of that. There is an organic quality to them. Were they put in there for marketing reasons? Probably. But it doesn't feel as shoe-horned as the stuff Lucas did later.
Don't get me wrong. I love Empire too, but it doesn't have an ending. It's a middle chapter, obviously, so it can't. But that's the advantage that Jedi has for me. You can come into it maybe without having seen the others and it will take you on a thrilling ride all on its own.
Maybe I should just do a Blog about this.
Spike and Overlord: I'll be curious to see how that all works out between you two.
