The Shield - About damn time!!! - Page 2

Dutch and Billings together again.

The Jay Karnes & David Marciano one on one is finally on the site. Also the roundtable with Elvis Mitchell is pretty cool.
I could watch Marciano and Karnes bullshit for hours.

4 WEEKS!
Too bad about the Dutch and Billings spin off. That really could have been comedy gold.
Part of me wishes something like that had happened, if not Dutch/Billings then at least Dutch by himself working as a Fed.

But it's probably for the best that it won't happen. I just hope Karnes gets some plum roles when the show ends and not just a guest spot on Law and Order or some crap.
Yeah, it's like what Marciano said, the writers wanted The Shield to end pure. Which is for the best.
These things are great. Really shows WHY the Shield is such a great show. Loved everyone raising their hands when asked, "Who thought they would be killed off?" It's also really making want to see Sons of Anarchy. Kurt Sutter is a crazy motherfuckerso it should be good. And it's always good to see Pearlman not in 6 hours worth of prosthetics.
That was nice to see the round table with the cast.

The "Shoot the Dog" line is great. As a native Angeleno and who still lives in the area I can tell that The Shield does our city a great service. So much of the show feels so authentic and real. It captures the seedy, trashy, aspect of LA, like Woody Allen did with NYC.
With less than a month to go I've been watching a few old favorite episodes here and there. Watched the 2nd season's "Partners" again mainly because of Carl Weathers, but good God is the other story in that one great with the couple who kidnap, cut off the arm, and eventually kill their neighbor. Unbelievable stuff from Jay Karnes in that one.
I'm hoping that FX will have some kind of Shield marathon before Sep.2.

At the very least re-run season 6 on the eve of the Season Primeire. Its been so long I need to rekindle with some plot points.
I'd hope/think that FX would do some kind of marathon re-cap/re-airing of season 6 at least?!?

Yeah, that part was funny...haha. And, some nice insight on the "season 6/5 split." SOA does look cool, too.

I've watched some of season 3. Man, that Shane / Tavon rumble is brutal. And the way they just lie to Tavon's face in hospital is horrible. You can see how much Lem hates it.

Also the final episode of season 2 is great. The looks on their faces - a mxiture of guilt and fear - as they look at the money-train cash is prophetic.

Also cool to hear some of the old songs: 'Overcome' by Live, in the last scene of season 2, is one of the best uses of music in any TV show ever.

Link doesn't work.

Also, I didn't know that Walton Goggins estranged wife comitted suicide. She had just handed divorce papers to him after being released from a mental asylum, just before christmas 2004:

Works fine here. It's the final montage of season 2.

Big article on season 7.
No huge spoilers, just stuff you could have predicted.

Although it looks like Dutch and Billings are back on the beat!

Yeah, watched this a few nights back. What struck me was how hesitant Lem was up until the actual robbery. Once they were in he was completely gung-ho while Shane wanted to call it all off when things got a bit off track. Very interesting when you consider Lem burning the money in season 3.

Poor Julian and his blanket party.
Have you listened to any of the commentaries? I don't always bother with them, but the one in season 3 with the entire strike team where they put a hidden camera in Dutch's car and crack up when he sings 'hungry like a wolf' is classic.

And Ronnie pretty much masterminded the fucking thing. I'm telling you, that guy's up to something.
Ronny has always been the brains of the operation. But he knows that Vic is always the one one who is in charge. To me Ronny's fate is probably the most intriguing of all the characters on the show. Vic and shane probably deserve what's coming to them, but Ronny should be allowed to walk away.

I really, really wanted to read that article but with SPOILER tags on the article iitself I stopped reading. I think I can wait a couple more weeks.

FX just sent me my review copy. It contains the first EIGHT episodes.

My day is going to be better than yours.

I hope episode 8 ends with a MAJOR cliffhanger.

Torrent of the episodes in 5... 4... 3...

Now the question is "download and watch now and experience the agonizing 10 12 week wait until an episode I haven't seen yet" or "wait patiently and try not to gnaw my hands off in anticipation"?

Decisions, decisions...

You know Matt, even if you sent the copy when you were done with it I wouldn't watch it. Waiting builds character. But if you need my address just let me know.
Part of me wants Mackey to get away with all the bad things he's done, to retire and live off a partial pension and spend the rest of his days looking over his shoulder. I feel like he's redeemed himself to an extent that prison or a violent shooting death doesn't seem justified.

And another part of me wants to see the most blood-splattered comeuppance in television history.
People are usually split on Vic's ultimate fate. If you think the guy is evil incarnate and has committed the most heinous shit while wearing a badge, then you probably want his life to end in a pool of his own blood.

If however, you think he's done the things he's done with certain intentions that aren't neccesarily bad then yes, he does deserve to live and retire quietly and ponder all the shit he's done.
Just finished watching the episodes I have. I'm working on my review and I won't spoil anything. I'll simply say that this is a season for the fans. Look out for some old faces, old grudges, and that this is The Shield you know and love. I'll have my review up on Collider in the coming days if you're interested to know more.
Link to it when it's up.

Thing is that the series starts by making him a cop-killer. Whatever else he may do, that will always be what he decided to do at the very beginning of the series. I believe it was said that it was intentional, but I think that that carries a lot of weight in terms of where he should end up.

Then again, he was protecting the team.
Exactly, just like what Shane did. Protecting the team!
Lem never would have turned on them. And Shane should have consulted everyone.

Damn, this seems familiar.
Shane is going to buy the farm. At the hands of Mackey. I can feel it.
So, Matt. By "for the fans," do you mean that in a derogatory manner or in a very positive, The Shield kicks ass and this will be and ending of endings way? Or something in between? Cause I hear for the fans, and I die a little inside.
I certainly hope that the final season lives up to expectations. And I hope the writer's strike didn't fuck up Shawn Ryan's plans for something he had in mind that he was unable to do. I say this because i remember a reading a story/rumor a while back that said the final ep. was not Shawn's original vision for how the show should end and had to rearrange the story a little. Anyone else remember that?
The final episode was about to be shot right when the strike started. It didn't effect the writing of the script at all and there has been so much time in between that anything Ryan would have wanted to do since the strike has ended he easily could have done.
IGN has an interview with Walton Goggins. No real information on the new season, just some insights and his experiences.

Thank God season 6 drops this tuesday. Having just gotten into The Shield I need to blast through the sixth season before Sept. 2.
Season 6 certainly has its moments, but, imo, not nearly the intensity that was prevalent through season 5. Especially, the last couple of episodes, which had me on the verge of tears, really.

While this seems like the expected conclusion I just get the idea that its too obvious. I'm thinking they may throw us a curveball. Something like Ronnie takes out Shane to save Vic/The Team and Vic quits after seeing another team member on team member murder.

There's no way Vic or Shane go to jail. They both know too much and would rather go out fighting than a long, slow death in jail.

All I know is that my Dutch fix is right around the corner and I can't wait.
Dellamorte has reviewed season 6 at www.collider.com

Interesting comparison to 'The Wire' Unfortunately he doesn't go into huge detail about the commentaries, but it's worth a read.

I was going to read the titles to those episodes but decided I better not. Though, they prob. won't give away much in terms of plot/ spoliers, I want to go in to the final season fresh.
I'm going into this season completely spoiler free, I haven't even read Matt's review over at Collider.

I did watch the "Return of Billings" clip though, because it's fucking Billings.
Well, its too late for me to be spoiler free. I watched the brief clips of the new season over at F/X site. They didn't give away that much but it did set of some things for certain storylines.

I have not read Matt's review either. But I will once the season gets started.
I saw Shawn Ryan on the latest episode of "Life After Film School" (on Fox Movie Channel) and he talked about not being there because of the strike. He seemed pretty happy with what they've now got, so that's good.

Nice...is there a link!?

Trying to figure out when the actual final ep. is...maybe will plan something with my boys...

Thought maybe I'd heard something about the absolute last ep. airing sometime around the end of November? The 25th, maybe??
The last one airs the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Good week of TV since I belive the "24" movie is supposed to air the Sunday of that week.
Only 7 more days until the Final Season begins!
