Favorite "What The Fuck?" moment in the Metal Gear Solid series

Thread Starter
As batshit insane Sons of Liberty is, I think my personal favorite is when Vulcan Raven goes into a monologue about the Eskimo sport of "Ear-pulling" in the original.
Psycho Mantis messing with my controller and rummaging through my saved games.
Naked. Fucking. Raiden.
The two that top my list are

-the whole crew of bad guys on the tanker in MGS2 (except for the fat explosives guy).

-grafting Liquid Snake's forearm to Revolver Ocelot and the subsequent mind-link/body-takeover thing.
Fat Explosives Guy was on the Big Shell, not the tanker.
While I haven't played the games. I have seen the retrospectives and I can think of two things:

The ability to kill young Ocelot(sp?) in MGS3 but then resulting in game over due to screwing up the time stream.

And the fact you can wait a week for the old man sniper to die instead of having to face him down.

Not to mention could anyone explain how a card system (Those portable Metal Gear games) would work in an action game? I don't think it's possible.

The intro to MGS4.
Stop that, Rob.

Here is a good collection of clips on the most uncomfortable moments in the series. http://www.1up.com/do/feature?cId=3168106
post #10 of 57
When I realized that people really like these boring, inane games.
That link is kinda spoilerish. Just don't watch the first two clips.
A LIFELESS ROOM... like your empty hart

I kinda wanna play this shit now if it's as consistently hilarious as these clips show.
What are your thoughts on gay vampires?
Dang, I needs speakers for this. Well, that's something else to do at home. Although the Sword fight was homoerotic? I just though laws of physics were being violated.
Most of the cutscenes in the Gamecube MGS had me going 'Oh shit!' and 'Daaaayum.' Especially the Sniper Wolf one, because Snake just displays all sorts of crazy moves when he throws the gun up, jumps spins, lands, grabs the gun and then fires and somehow manages to win. Thank you, Kitamura.

Ummm ... what? How exactly do they explain that? Go ahead and spoiler away, I've gots to know!
I saw that in the retrospectives. That was some kooky shit right there. BTW someone feel free to sling me a PM about the MGS4 intro and why is it considered strange. I'm not getting a PS3 so spoil away.

good

This is the only Metal Gear cutscene that resonates with me.

Gonna take it DAY BY DAY.

The President of the Unites States just touched my heart, i mean, my penis!

Also, kudos to everyone for ignoring Devin's nerd/fanboy baiting comment.
Slipping on seagull shit in MGS2 threw me for a loop.
The normalcy in which characters approach floating psychics, bisexual vampires, possessed hands, shields that deflect bullets and insane AIs while being utterly stymied and engrossed with the simplest of maneuvers and weaponry.

"Holy shit, a fucking floating vampire dude!"

"Yes, whatever. But did you notice the way he held is gun? And interesting technique I've not see since the Albert-Tryov Conference in '99. You would think the barrels length would not provide the proper spin......."

I loved that Snake looks at camera and gives you, the player, a nod, ensuring that it is, in fact, ok to put down your controller when Matis tells you to. I think this only happens on the Game Cube version.

Ha! That's cool. I didn't remember that from the PS1 version.

Just how much "fourth wall" breaking stuff is there in the MGS series? I'd heard about Psycho Mantis and The End, but is this a constant theme?

Also, that scene with Psycho Mantis looked really cool, except for the retarded green screen talking head conversation that went on way too long and makes no sense. What, was Psycho Mantis just chilling for the three minutes it took for Snake to chat it up with whoever that was? Are those the "Codec" conversations you guys keep mentioning? If so, I can see why they're hated. They completely destroy the flow of the scene.
Killing the End early in the game is always fun.

Yeah, that's a codec moment.

Not a huge amount of fourth wall breaking really. More like nods to the "audience". Plenty of stuff that doesn't make sense or doesn't belong crops up though.

The controller swap was certainly as far as it goes.

In the original game, Big Boss asks you to turn off the MSX.

There are quite a few 4th wall moments in the series;

What makes it great is that he's just casually standing there with a huge ass Gatling Gun and ravens flocking to him while he's saying it.

"...You want to pull on each other's ears?"
"The form is different, but the spirit is the same!!!"

Also, if you've been sniping ravens before the boss battle, a line is added where he expresses his anger about you "killing all his friends."

I liked the whole 'The Sorrow' sequence in MGS3. It freaked me out.

The Sorrow? You mean ghost Dick Cheney?
The monkey in 4 is proving to be pretty damn odd.
Surprised no one's mentioned the Colonel calling you while in Arsenal in MGS2.
When he told me I'd been playing too long and suggested taking a break I got pretty creeped out. Also the radar in the corner of the screen showing a home-video of an asian girl taking a nap was quite odd, but MGS's full of that stuff.

I commented on this years ago on these forums...only to be told by Devin to "get help", thus getting my first taste of Deviness.
Dammit, those were simpler times.
You can put away your Devin-boner now.

Perhaps Kojima should hire Devin for MGS 5. He would appear by codec and tell you that the game is boring and you should go play GTA IV.

You honestly want to know?

***Mother of all Spoilers***

Ocelot is actually faking all along. He studies Liquid's mannerisms and has hypnotherapy to convince himself (and everyone else) that he's posessed by Liquid and/or completely fucking insane in order to understand and defeat the Patriots No.1 Weapon of Choice, Solid Snake.

Yeah, Liquid's dead and Ocelot is sort of a good guy. Sort of

Personally, the Colonel-Arsenal Gear AI going apeshit in Sons of Liberty wins out - all that giant stuffed purple worm gubbins was just far too freaky when you're having an all night session.

High five, Dom.

The series' preoccupation with shitting, farting, shit and poop. Deification, really.

The F13 movies are 90 minutes. There's more than double that in inane and dull codec discussions in your average MGS game.

"War is like a game to them" and then a sequence showing all the MGS games being scrolled through on the XMB.

Very strange.
I just saw the footage involving Raiden and his girlfriend. Sweet jesus.
So much cleavage. Ol' Kojima can't resist it can he?

*EDITED TO REMOVE MGS4 CONTENT*
The Japanesse love the titties. It's a well known fact.
Can we leave out anything pertaining to MGS4? This includes the tits.
