One day after Grey's Anatomy's Katherine Heigl announced that she would drop out of this year's Emmy race, because "I do not feel I was given the material this season to warrant a nomination," a key show insider contacted EW.com to express regret that the actress publicly complained about the drama. “The show bent over backwards to accommodate her film schedule, and then she criticizes the show for lack of material?" the insider said. "It's an ungrateful slap in the face to the very writers responsible for her Emmy win in the first place.”

Heigl made the comments on June 12 after Gold Derbydiscovered the star's name was not on a list of Emmy contenders distributed by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The omission was especially bizarre considering that Heigl won last year’s award for best supporting actress in a drama.

Critics jeered Heigl's performance early in the season, complaining about the romance between her character, Izzie, and George (T.R. Knight). But the actress shined in Grey's season finale when her character redeemed herself and her career at Seattle Grace.

This isn't the first time Heigl has publicly criticized the show that helped to make her a household name. Last year, the actress dropped out of salary renegotiations, reportedly because she felt the studio doesn't value her as much as it does her cohorts. ABC TV Studio fired back, insisting the Grey’s actress had been offered a substantial raise. Heigl has since received a salary bump.

Shymalan-(verb) to become too big for one's britches. ex. "Did you talk to Jerry last night at the party? What a jerk! He's completely Shymalaned since he got that promotion."

Kanye-(verb)to grow an inflated ego. ex. "I really had to be careful that I didn't Kanye after I became homecoming queen."

Heigl-(newly added verb) to bite hand that feeds. To become an ungrateful cunt. ex. "God, I hate that ungrateful bitch. She totally Heigled yesterday at work."

Yeah, she's got quite an ego for a nobody. It's weird that actors who aren't big or incredibly popular have such the biggest ego's. Val Kilmer, Don Johnson, Jeremy Piven... etc.

So either she's trying to get out of her contract and get cut loose or she just has an inflated ego. But I don't see why you'd make comments like that publicly. Who else would want to work with you after you call out your writers/producers?

Someone who is "not a star" like Heigl or Don Johnson is still treated like Christ risen by the common people that surround them. Somewhere, people are fawning over Corey Haim. He probably still gets blowjobs all the time simply because he's Corey Haim.

That said, I personally think Heigl's sun will rise and set with GA.

She's not a complete nobody, but she's getting what I like to call The David Caruso Disease, a TV actor thinking that they are hot shit and trying to get out of their TV contract. She's not a remarkable actress, she's a pretty woman but nothing more than any of the other starlets out there, and she's got a bitchy personality. What's so special here? I damn sure don't see it. Any young actress could have duplicated or bettered what she did in Knocked Up or 27 Dresses. Deflate your head, bitch, before you have to give head just to get an audition.

Her life on the set next season..presuming she is still around...is going to be a living hell. She broke one of the prime rules for acting etiqutte:No matter how bad you think it is, you do not badmouth a show to the press like that while it is still running.

I know Isaiah Washington is homophobic, but he starred in Out of Sight and never said a bad word in public about his writers.

And I wish Heigl was the next Caruso. If only 27 Dresses made as much as Jade. Then the next cycle of comedy stars (everything that has happened before will happen again) would have an exchange like this:

Starred? He appeared in it but he was hardly in a starring role. As for Heigl, she might want to slow her roll considerably. It seems like she's setting herself up to be a target for some serious backlash.

If the producers of Grey's Anatomy value her less than her counterparts in the show, then they are right to do so. Her character is the only one that I derive little to no enjoyment from when I watch. And that's with her being probably the best looking woman on the show.

There are stories she is trying to basically get out of her contract to do Grey Anatomy, but she is going about it in such a way that if she gets her wish,most producers in Hollywood will be think twice about signing her.

The success of Knocked Up went to her head in a BIG way, ironic considering that no one went to see that for her. 27 Dresses wasn't a hit because of her, either. Put any young female in a chick flick and it'll find an audience most of the time. She thinks she's hot shit when she ain't shit. She just comes across as a big ol' raging bitch.

Heigl really should work on crossing those bridges before she burns them. She backtracked with the Apatow thing, so even if she does leave Grey's Anatomy, I wouldn't be surprised if we soon heard the classic "oh, that was out of context, what I said was...".

I'm antcipating producers making her stick around through the remainder of her contract and being treated much like Dr Romano was on ER.

They'll cut her arm off with a helicopter...and maybe scar her face like Tom Cruise in Vanilla Sky.

That means hours in the makeup trailer. She has to come in three hours earlier than the rest of the cast, and stay longer after the day's shooting is done.

I can hear the producers...

She lucked up and ended up in a couple of hit movies, started believeing her own press, and set about burning bridges. You were in Bride of Chucky, chick. Never forget.
