I just wanted to add that "Romy and Michele: In the Beginning" was on TV last night, and I got to see Heigl using the plot of PRETTY WOMAN as an excuse to dress up like a hooker in hopes of picking up Richard Gere in Hollywood. Hilarious AND progressive.

The ratings have been hitting all-time lows this season. I'm sure in Heigl's mind that's because the public won't watch it without her. Reality, on the other hand, says its shitty-writing is finally catching up to Shonda Rhimes & Co.

I dunno if you can really compare her to David Caruso. 27 DRESSES actually made money. Did Caruso do any successful movies post-NYPD Blue?

ETA: Any time I hear David Caruso's name I think of Ike's impression of him in the first episode of South Park.

I think the time has come for Heigl to make her 'Jade'. She knows that 'erotic thrillers' are the only thing beckoning her now and I for one welcome the move.

At least Heigl is leaving with a film career actually in place, unlike Caruso, who really should have waited until he had maybe one well-received hit. It's too bad that a woman who claims to be such an independent thinker has chosen such crass nonsense to jumpstart her film career with, but it's not like starring roles for women are all that varied anyway. I just hope she realizes that the sub-Meg Ryan shit will burnout...quickly.

With precious few exceptions, actresses have crushingly short shelf lives in the features world. It kinda gives me wood that she's not going gentle into that good night, refusing to just play along. At least she's driving her own spaceship into the heart of the sun.

Well, her last film was a solid hit which is sweetened by the fact that she produced it. Seems to me more like she's driving her own spaceship around the sun for the time being.

Still, what she did to her show is like biting the hand that feeds you; without Grey's Anatomy I doubt she'd be enjoying the success that she has right now.
