I've been reading through this thread and just noticed this. According to Neilsen's overnights for yesterday (I think the first number is overall viewers and the number in parentheses is the 25-54 demo):
Quote:
8PM - P2+ (25-54)
The O’Reilly Factor- 2,892,000 viewers (686,000)
CNN Election Center– 826,000 viewers (214,000)
Countdown w/ Olbermann – 1,241,000 viewers (414,000)
Fast Money- 149,000 viewers (54,000)
Nancy Grace – 614,000 viewers (242,000) |
And here are two
week-long looks at the
head-to-head ratings in June. Olbermann will occasionally top O'Reilly in the 25-54 demographic. But O'Reilly seems to consistently double the amount of total viewers Olbermann gets. Honestly, it just floors me that every weeknight a combined 4 million people will watch partisan blowhards yelling at the other side to shut the hell up.
As for Russert, I tend to agree with what El Capitan has written. I loved watching Meet the Press. He was a tough, but professional interviewer and moderator. He could always be counted on to throw the guest's words back at them when they acted or spoke in a contrary manner. For those with a fondness for the hyper-partisan commentators on cable news, Russert probably came across as timid. To me, he was a professional. He'll be missed in my household.
