I don't have as big a problem w/ the concept not being exciting or innovative as some might. A good film can be made from a tried & true classic formula in the hands of a talented director. As far as the director of this one being George Romero's son, I'm not sure what to make of that. Will people go into it expecting a film that feels a lot like something his dad did, w/ the social commentary & all? If so, will they be irked if he steps out from dad's shadow and does something totally different? And if he does stay firmly w/in the style his dad has made famous, will other folks be pissed off because he DIDN'T innovate stylistically? I guess it goes w/o sayiong that he won't necessarily be a good filmmaker just BECAUSE he's George's son. But personally, I hope he tries to cut his own figure in the cinematic landscape, and not display too much overt influence from dad. I'll probably give it a shot on DVD or On Demand cable as well, particularly if the buzz hereabouts is good. Thanks for the heads up.
