Now you know as much as I do.

I'm cautiously optimistic about this one.

Thoughts?

I don't have as big a problem w/ the concept not being exciting or innovative as some might. A good film can be made from a tried & true classic formula in the hands of a talented director. As far as the director of this one being George Romero's son, I'm not sure what to make of that. Will people go into it expecting a film that feels a lot like something his dad did, w/ the social commentary & all? If so, will they be irked if he steps out from dad's shadow and does something totally different? And if he does stay firmly w/in the style his dad has made famous, will other folks be pissed off because he DIDN'T innovate stylistically? I guess it goes w/o sayiong that he won't necessarily be a good filmmaker just BECAUSE he's George's son. But personally, I hope he tries to cut his own figure in the cinematic landscape, and not display too much overt influence from dad. I'll probably give it a shot on DVD or On Demand cable as well, particularly if the buzz hereabouts is good. Thanks for the heads up.

Cameron definitely put his own kind of twist to the film, given the state of the script-it is a cookie cutter plot, however Cameron makes you love the family...he really focuses on their distorted values. Then you feel bad for the killer, buddy who is unwillingly hacking away at these innocent teenagers because thats all he has ever known. I heard it will be scored by Jesper Kyd, who could put a crazy dark ambiance to the film.
