25 Worst Sitcoms of All Time

Not a great list, but a good starting off point for a discussion about terrible, terrible TV. Desmond Pfieffer wept.

They should have had a funny writer attempt some comedy in this list. Could it have been any more dry? They basically listed some cast members and a plot synopsis. Lazy.

But it did resurrect a long dead memory of the sitcom "It’s a Living", which I remember seeing while home sick from school. And I would totally let the Sagal sisters (sisters of Peg Bundy, Katey) from "Double Trouble" double-team me, if I could take a Delorian back to the 80s.

Giovanni Ribisi was on "My 2 Dads"???

Duh. Who better to play foil to that prick Chad Allen.
That Heather Graham show was so bad, it was unreal. It makes Manimal look like the television equivalent of Citizen Kane.
I thought that 'Hello, Larry' was universally considered to be the worst sitcom of all time. This was the McLean Stevenson show that he left 'MASH' to do.
Wait wait wait. How is Mr. Belvedere on this list and not Step by Step or according to Jim? I call B.S.

Although listing Whoops was pretty funny.
"Perfect Strangers" doesn't belong. Some of the best physical comedy of the last quarter century.
I don't think I could come up with 25 sitcoms from my lifetime that I thought were worth a shit. And Perfect Strangers might actually be on that list. I didn't know it was so loathed.

Sitcoms=horrible lowest common denominator television, by and large.
I'd say the reality tv of MTV and VH1 is the lowest common denominator. Ever try watching a "Shot of Love" without wanting to put a gun to your head? Nope, didn't think so.
If "Perfect Strangers" had been made in the 30's and not in color I'm positive it would be seen as a comedic benchmark. Plus I bet they would have done a couple episodes in blackface.
Blackface went on in the 30s? I mean I know other sterotypes existed. But that still went on?

I would pay good money to see an episode of Amos N' Balki.
Well that's true. Ya got a point.

I stand corrected.
Hey, alls I ask is to have the record be truthful.
The fact that Meego isn't included makes that entire list bullshit...
How in the hell did the truly abysmal "Still Standing" not make this list? It's at least as bad as "Yes, Dear," if not worse. In fact, the vast majority of sitcoms that air on CBS could comprise one of these lists all by themselves.
Sure they could have spiced this article up with trivia like the Segal sisters one or the fact that Staci Keenan was in two terrible sit-coms (Step By Step). Still Standing was indeed horrible, but I saw an episode where their son wouldn't shower after gym. It turned out it was that he was self-concious about his body because he had a big dick. It was a concept so mentally ill and 180 degrees from what I was expecting I decided that episode was genius.
Yes to Mama's Family and Small Wonder. But there are far far more failed (read less than one season) sitcoms that belong on this list before Perfect Strangers.

Also: Madame's Place needs to be on this somewhere.
25 Worst Sitcom of All (Of That Writer's Life)Time
post #21 of 115
How could Saved By The Bell: The College Years not be on this list?
This does raise that age old question... would you fuck your robot sister?
but perfect strangers wasn't made in the 30's so that argument is silly.

you can't make an argument with nonsense
Yes Dear was utter dogshit. I watched it time to time because I thought that Anthony Clark's wife was hot. Other than that, shit.
Mr. Belvedere?!

I stopped taking this list seriously when I read that.

Perfect Strangers was an awesome show.

Someone has too much free time...
Impressive, but I still prefer this.*

*I'm aware I've posted this like 80 times over the past few years. Still gold.

Sweet irony. Your objection over the author's inaccurate name for his article reminds me of this exchange from a years back, regarding your article entitled "Devin's Ten Worst Films of 2005" (you believed Crash was the "worst").

**Lest any of you think that Crash actually was the worst film of 2005, keep in mind that 2005 was the year that Son of the Mask, XXX: State of the Union, Alone in the Dark, The Pacificer, and Miss Congeniality 2 were released.
No "What a Dummy" = invalid list. The one time i saw that show I thought I died and went to Hell.

I've seen it in 70s television, of all things.
So yes.

I love you guys who live only to 'catch me.' I don't even remember what fucking movies I put on that list and you remember an exchange you had with me about it. It's sad and yet touching.

Also, your thesis is fucked and stupid and shows no understanding not only of subjectivity but also no understanding of how to judge art in context.

Eenin? Did you hijack Devin's account?
At least you have enough mild self-awareness to not address my actual points.
TcjSavannah, Madame's Place was only watchable because of Judy Landers but...It was definitely better than these shows...
1) Rosanne
2) The Cosby Show
3) Newhart
4) A Different World
5) Aftermash

I fucking hate Friends. HATE THAT SHIT.
I fucking hate Seinfeld. HATE THAT SHIT.
I fucking hate Everybody Loves Raymond. HATE THAT SHIT.
I fucking hate Frasier. HATE THAT SHIT.

Pretty much every sitcom ever made, I fucking despise because they fail to make me laugh. Except Spaced

Actually, he left MASH about three years before he did Hello Larry. He left MASH mostly because he didn't like how the show was becoming all about Hawkeye.
Actually he left and got THE MCLEAN STEVENSON SHOW.
Best part of this list?

It led me to wonder what happened to Josie Davis, the "other" daughter on Charles in Charge.

I couldn't tell you what she's been up to aside from becoming smokin' hot
post #41 of 115
That is hot.

Mmmmm... your point?

Well... I would totally fuck my robot sister.

I vaguely remember some show from my youth where Ann Jillian was a ghost or some horseshit. That sucked homeless dick.

Mr. Belvedere is kick ass if only for the episode where Wesley gets molested.

Jennifer Slept Here, I think.

I hate myself for thinking I know that.

I love Mama's Family...

Crash is one of the worst films of all time. Worse than every movie I haven't seen (including all the ones you mentioned). Even worse than films that I've never seen because they might not exist in any format anymore because it was deemed so awful that they just threw every print in a fire. Worse than getting AIDS in your cancer. It's a fact.

The irony of Devin's post wasn't related to whether or not Crash was the worst movie of 2005 year (which I don't think it was). It was in regards to his mocking another writer's "subjective" tagline for inaccuracy, when he himself has been [proudly] guilty of it.
