CHUD Repertory Draft Discussion - Page 25

Rath, I can't wait to read your full synopsis for The Warehouse. That stuff you just posted is a great little teaser.
I know for 40 second fuse I want to base it in circa '77 NYC with Isiah Whitlock, jr. having a cameo as a deputy mayor.
Hocken, I got more of a Mamet vibe from yours than anything. Good shit.
Rath, I was tempted to make you the writer on my Aqueduct story.
Came up with a hook for my action flick which may be a little challenging from a "suspension of disbelief" type standpoint, but I like it.
Clark, I want your Aqueduct and I want it now.
That happened right? I read a report somewhere that some doctors in a Katrina hospital were being charged with murder because they had to euthanise some patients.
It did actually, but the doctor in that case was found not guilty. I think Clark's was a great idea as you can just envision the unbelievable horror in that hospital.

I just put up a piece of Forty Second Fuse. I just wanted to have something up there so I used Rath-style tactics.
My Fuse is up, even if it's way shorter than I had envisioned. It gives away the general idea.

Sorry, had to.

I just put up a quickie summary of Fuse. Hopefully I can apply this to the other projects. BTW Tati, I love the almost Metal Gear-esque homages with the names of the cops.
All the names in aqueduct are homages too, no one noticed!
(Looks at Aqueduct)

You son of a bitch. You're right!
Nearly everything should appear from me late tonight (or early tomorrow morning, depending on how you look at it.)
Half of my Warehouse is up. I'm pulling a Rath and continuing it later. But you can see where it's going. Think Planet Terror.
If it's cool I'm going to have to split my Warehouse summary into multiple posts. I think the tag-line/single sentence/casting should be enough if Nick wants to use that for the website. If people care to read the entire thing, they can. If not, well, no skin off my ass.

Also, Tati, as you can see, you're not the only one who busted out a homage or two. Yours is way better than my lame "Carpenter State" though.

Anyone else thinking about actually trying to write a real script now?
Went out to have some fun today and not think about this stuff, so magically plots started finally popping up in my head. I'll get at least the rough outlines up tonight a la Rath and flesh them out later. The thing is, I tried intended for these to be more indie minded to but I find myself going pretty over the top with some of these. I really wanted to do something thoughtful and deep with the Sci-Fi, but it's going to end up being a Golan Globus homage instead.
I've got Comedy and Sci-Fi ideas rattling around my head but horror is gonna be the bitch of the bunch mainly because I'm not really into that genre.

Personally I would love to bang out my 40 second fuse idea into a script.

BTW Arjen, I would certainly buy a ticket to your Beer Battered film, love the character descriptions.

Yes.

What's the policy for casting people who aren't in your company (and not in anyone else's) in small roles? I have my story set for Beer Battered and I have 3 "free agents" in mind for very minor roles. Can I go ahead and list them in the story?

And Hocken, I am curious if I can work out compensation for one of your performers for a small role (3-4 scenes at most) in Beer Battered. If you want to borrow any one of my performers, its all good.

Well, thank you, but I haven't posted it yet. It'll be up later tonight or maybe tomorrow.
Whoops, I meant Olson's. That was the one I was thinking of. My mistake.

And Will, feel free to borrow one of my players. It is all good in regards to such requests.
Thank you very much, sir!

Well, now it's my turn to thank you. I really wish I could have come up with something less derivative, but I ran it past two of my buddies before posting it, and they approved, so I went with it. I knew pretty much from the start that I wanted Russell as the lead in the comedy, with Downey, Jr. acting as a nefarious villain type, and this plot seemed like the best fit for that.
Yeah I know what you mean, the comedy and horror ones are proving to be the most difficult. Mainly because the best concept involving beer was Beerfest a couple years back. I also wonder of putting more into the sci-fi one but it's just I'd rather get the other two done.
OK, I've done fuckall over the last week. Is there a due date for any of these items?
I've been working hard whenever possible myself, but I want to post everything at once. I'm scrambling to have this done by the weekend.
I apologize for the delay in my Warehouse, Forty Second and Pluto write-ups. I am back visiting family in Michigan, so it gets difficult to find some time to just focus on these proposed films. I'm spit-balling things and hopefully will be able to turn that into something by the weekend.
Finally have my Beyond Pluto up. Maybe finally working that out will clear the block on the other two.
These things are taking a lot longer than I expected but I'm really happy with how they're turning out.
