Deniers continue to deny global warming in spite of facts

It's noteworthy that USA today published this story on the govt's latest report on global warming. But geez, there's a lot of denial in the comments.

I honestly can't understand the mindset behind global climate change denial. I mean, even if it were all bs, wouldn't it be worth making changes just in the off-chance that all the scientific documentation and leading hypotheses are RIGHT? The only entities with anything to lose, and therefore a reason to deny, are big oil and coal and yet I think only a handful of the comments on the USA today piece are paid shills. A lot of them are real people. Mystifying.

The problem is that the very rich, who are unfortunately also the decision-makers here, believe (falsely) that they can escape any natural disaster and that it won't affect their lifestyle.

There's a lot of dismally educated economists who feel their "training" entitles them to "question" climate change by applying social science methods to physical reality. There's also a lot of people who think every argument is a "biased opinion" and that it's a legitimate tactic to side with which ever "opinion" you like better. For example, I was reading perezhilton's celebrity gossip blog, which is written at a voguely populist level, and inbetween self-righteous screeds and mawkish musical recommendations, he ponders over which "biased" side of the climate change debate is "least biased" — "majority"-speak for "correct". This logic, of course, does not apply to scientific discoveries concerning homosexuality.

[I get the feeling Hilton and his readers are by-and-large conservative, and I think he panders to this.]

"There have been a lot of attempts to quiet us in our findings about global warming alarmism so it's not surprising it would happen to this event.''
I hate this fucking state sometimes.

In a year or two global warming will be all but dead issues, as Fuel cost and food shortages will eclipse it. As I have been saying for a couple of years now. There are just more global problems which are tacking effect before global warming will, to make Global warming a real issue. Luckily taking care of the fuel cost problem will most likely take care of global warming.
