Top Gear

Anyone else have any love for one of the best shows on British TV?

It’s back for another six episodes and last night was full of the usual lunacy.

Proving a bmw was more environmentally friendly than an eco car.
Attempting to set a world record for jumping cars backwards!
And the challenge of buying a car of under £1000 and turning it into a police car.

Say what you want about Clarkson, but when he is teamed with James May and Richard Hammond you get some entertaining TV.

Fantastic as always. Didn't we have a thread about it?

If we did the search function didn't bring it up.

Anyway it's a new season so I think we can get away with a new thread.

Fair play. The police sequence was fantastic. Especially when it came to bringing down the Stig. The paint thing was hilarious!

I actually thought that was a nice idea - only it needed a faster car and better paint.

The spikes on the side of Clarkson's car was insane though.

Yeah, I thought so too - but seeing him switch on the wipers was just such a cracking little visual gag.

I knew the spike would end badly, but watching Clarkson's wheel come off was brilliant. Hammy finishing it off by eating the results too.

They all looked like they needed time to warm up though - i'm still reeling from how good that Africa thing they did was.

I do hope this is unrelated though

Brag brag brag "I live in the UK and get to see it when first airs" go fuck yourself!

Sorry I just love this show and hate the fact that I'll be lucky to see the new ones by the end of the year. BBC Canada takes forever to play them and that's the only reason I have the channel. The rest of it's lineup consists of UK property buying/renovating/selling shows and Holmes on Homes about a guy who fixes renovations. Blech!

That said I'm so pathetic I did go on the BBC site to watch the trailers for the new season. I need my British loudmouth fix.

Another good eppisode, although i fear Top Gear Stuntman may become irritating very fast.

The polar special is another good one.

There is a good dvd that is all of the challanges they have do to date, might be worth picking that up.

I bought my Evo VIII partly based on their review, even though they picked the STi. I believe Clarkson’s wife drives an Evo.

I still need to get the second episode. Knowing it has the Evo X review in it will speed up the process.

JohnnyZ, make sure you find the Winter Olympics episode. It’s one of the best.

I want that Evo so very, very much. I'd trade body parts for one.

It was the same with the Cupra R though - Top Gear went crazy for it, so I gave it a test drive - it was love from then on.

Anyone know if they are planning a special for this season?

Hoepfully it will be another hour long affair like the last few.
I thought I read something somehwere saying they were going to try and get away from the full episode specials and get back to basics. I could be wrong. I do believe they are doing a bullet train vs GT-R race this season.

I'm sure you know the Evos in the UK were different than what they offer in the US. Not sure about the new X though.

Oh, I know. I researched the death out of the car before I bought it. It was either that or the STi. Sadly the Evo VIII here in the States lacked the active differential and active yaw control found in the cars for the rest of the world. We also don’t have anything akin to RalliArt UK’s FQ series of cars. Still, of all the cars I’ve owned this is the first where I can’t think of any other real world car that I would rather drive. The thing is just so much fun.

The US version of the X has all the bells and whistles as far as I know.

The USA special was on again last night.

Got to love Richard Hammond driving through the heart of the Bible belt in a doge pickup with "Man love Rules" across the side of it.

Yeah. I think you are right.

I feel like I'm bumping an ancient thread but I'd thought I'd give out the info that Top Gear started again last night (26th of June) in the UK.

Wasn't the best episode but I'm amazingly excited that it's started up again.....
