Red Faction: Guerrilla - Page 5

This morning, I finally got the achievement for causing 25 millions points worth of damage in Wrecking Crew. I started last night having only caused about 2 million total.

For those who want a good way to cause a lot of damage in Wrecking Crew fairly quickly, this is how I did it:

Start a 4-player escalation game on Complex with thermobaric rockets as the weapon, high collapse for the buildings, and 5 wins required. After each round of escalation, time and ammo is increased.

When you start out (and only have a single shot per round), go for the smokestack by one of the large buildings. Stand between the building and the smokestack and shoot it in the middle of the concrete base, just above the bottom edge. It will kill you, but if done right, the smokestack will crash through the building, causing quite a bit of damage.

Once you get to use more than one rocket per round, head to the rock between the two large buildings. Aim for the center of the inside of one of the buildings there through one of the orange-tinted windows on the ground floor (under the overhang). The blast will knock out all of the supports, and the building will collapse under its own weight. The most important thing is to be patient. Sometimes it takes 20-30 seconds for the building to finally crack, but it should fall each and every time.

The more rockets you have, the more buildings you can take down by shooting through the glass windows into the centers of the buildings. One shot will take down most or all of the structures, if you wait for everything to collapse afterwards.

If you spread the wins around between the four characters, each session will last a while, but at the end of it, you will have caused several million points worth of damage. For example, it took me about and hour to cause about 8 millions points of damage in one session. The good thing about doing it this way is that you don't have to restart a bunch of different games, and you can spend most of your time blowing shit up.

Polygon tell me what Bonus XP events you need and I (and I'm sure Nate) will set up some custom games to get them.

Off the top of my head, I know I need Death From Above, BBQ, a Rescue Kill, a Heal Teammate, and a couple X-Rays. That leaves three others that I can't remember at the moment.

It was cool playing with a full crew last night.

Also the new maps are awesome and they're compatible with Demolition. There's one map in particular that is going to be Legend-ary for Demolition due to the fact it's centred around a massive three/four storey building.

Does anybody have any tips for me on getting 10 wins in regular Anarchy? I'd like to get all the hidden challenges in the game, but the one for winning ten games in each mode will elude me until I can get 10 Anarchy wins. I have yet to even get close to winning a match in that mode.

And now for a semi-hilarious side note....after everybody left Last night, Nate and I played one last match on Crash Site. Somehow Nate was in or around the shed on the cliffside during/after it was destroyed. I didn't see exactly what happened, but it ended up with Nate standing on a tiny nub on the side of the cliff face, well below the edge to the point that he couldn't get back up.

Polygon, if you need 10 wins in Anarchy we can do them in Custom matches easily enough. Also I'm not entirely sure how I ended up over the cliff, I know I charged in the building in an attempt to kill their destroyer and failed miserably.

It was awesome playing with a full team and not having to rely on randoms for once. I think we only lost one or two matches the entire night?

Yeah, we even won a couple with stupid sniper people that we might have normally lost.

Bumping because I just got this game, and it is fun.

Anyone besides Singer have it on PC?

I do. It's quite fun. More than the reviews lead me to believe, actually. I just wish it was ported to the PC a bit better. I get like a billion frames per second with everything turned to maximum but the textures are still very low resolution. I wish they could have thrown in an option to select more detailed textures.
