Having read "The Bachman Books" a few times, I am wondering what your opinions on "The Long Walk" is? Personally, I think it is utter greatness.

I think that it's one of the best things that King's ever written. I personally like how he has the relationships between the walkers develop over the course of the story. For me, it all came across as feeling very real, making it all the more scary.

All I know is that Darabont is in talks for an adaptation and the synopsis is super promising. I need to check it out.

This book sits right besides "The Stand", "The Dark Tower", and "It" in the King lexicon to me. Lean and mean storytelling and by far one of his most engrossing reads. I defy anyone not to finish it in one sitting.

Without a doubt the best of the King books I have read.

The Bachman books seem to be his better works.

Garrity! Garrity! Garrity! Garrity! Garrity! Garrity!

The only thing better than this story is the thought that Darabont might - no, will - bring it to the screen. That guy's three for three when it comes to King adaptations.

I agree that King's Bachman books are among his finest. It's too bad RAGE will never become a movie (it'd be a good role for Shia if it did, though), and THE RUNNING MAN deserves proper screen treatment (fuck you, Arnold). ROADWORK's a pretty interesting character study too.

Can anyone confirm that MISERY was gonna be a Bachman title before his cover was blown?

My major problem with King's "Running Man" is that, as the TV show is described, it would be an absolute bore. Say what you will about the Arnold movie, but it understood the American TV audience far better than the book did.

Actually, I disagree with that. If anything, it resembles the reality TV people watch these days. I could totally see a real telling of The Running Man working (except for the ending-that ending is off limits now).
