The draft is tonight, but the offseason certainly started with a bang, no? Jermaine O'Neal to Toronto? Richard Jefferson to Milwaukee? Sounds like a couple of teams are blowing it up.
Redd and RJ on the same team will be fun to watch.

Too bad they won't play any d... But hey, it's the east. No d is still good enough for a 5 seed, at least.

The East is improving, so I'm pretty sure the Bucks just became an under 30-win team. But Mighty Mo Williams always kills the Cavs, so that's two home wins!

If Tyrus Thomas matures (and I think he's due for a breakout), the Bulls are going to be trouble for everyone in the East.

I'd been hoping that the Cavs would swing a trade for Redd, but Varejao was a key part of that deal, and he's repped by Yi's agent; no way Fegan was about to have two of his guys battling each other for minutes.

Been saying LeBron would go to Brooklyn for years when everyone was talking the Knicks. I really hate being right. Can't wait to see Ferry blow #19 on Hibbert! (One of the mock drafts had Anthony Randolph falling to the Cavs; Ferry ain't that lucky. And if he picks a project like JaVale McGee, he might as well trade LeBron now.)

BTW, how is D.J. Augustin falling as far as fifteen in some mock drafts? True, he's undersized, but If he drops like that, Ferry better start shopping the shit out of everyone in the Cavs' backcourt (even my man-crush Boobie).

Miami could Heat up with the addition of PF Michael Beasley 1st rd pick, in addition to Shawn Marion as well as their great SG Dwayne Wade.

It was shameful for the Knick fans to be booing their #1 pick SF Danilo Gallinari before they even get a chance to see him play. It reminded me of the 1999 NFL Draft when Eagles fans booed the selection of Donovan McNabb. Apparantly when Mike D'Antoni played basketball in the Italian League his teammate was Vittorio Gallinari who's son was picked by the Knicks. I think Danilo Gallinari could end up being the kind of player the Knicks need for their fairly unathletic front court.

It was an uninspired pick though. New York wants big names. I had not even heard of this guy until he was chosen.

Plus, anyone remember the last Europeans to be chosen in the draft so high?

Darko anyone?

That said, I'm not a NBA guy. My city doesn't have a team nor will they ever, but I am a college bball guy.

Glad to see Joe Alexander from WVU go real high.
Thought the Magic would go for a big guy up front to help Howard, but another scorer could help him too.
J.J. Hickson. Huh. Should be a poor man's Joe Smith in a few years. Very exciting.

I was pissed, at the time, that the Heat lost the lottery, but it couldn't have worked out any better. I love how Rose's seven minutes of brilliance in the championship game made everyone forget how fucking awful he was in the first 32 and how he concluded the game by choking away the championship in the closing seconds by missing a title clinching FT. Rose is going to be a good player - he does a lot of things right - but he's not "one of the clearest No. 1 picks of the last decade", like Jack McCallum is led to believe. The Heat grabbed the best player in the draft, even if Pat Riley wouldn't agree. Riles has always had a major fetish for PGs, especially now, seeing how the Heat have none.

Jordan must really be down on Felton. Maybe he can give Riley a call.

Now that the draft has switched from TNT to ESPN, am I the only one who finds it boring & practically unwatchable. Stuart Scott like nails on a chalkboard. (Most unhip hip guy ever; where's Mark "Basketball" Jones?! "May your jumpers hit nothing but the bottom of the net"--So hip-hop, man!)

How are the Bulls fucking up so badly???

I'll be surprised if Yi Jianlian ever turns out to be something spectacular, although he could end up solid. Bobby Simmons has been garbage. Love that trade. Now, just get rid of Mo Williams and, sadly, the comedy superstar that is Dan Gadzuric and then I just might be able to believe this team is heading in the right direction.

Just found out the Heat traded for Chalmers. I like it. He may turn out to be the solid PG they need.

Wow...the clippers are making smart moves?!?

Apparently, Baron Davis is now a clipper according to ESPN.

5 yrs 65 mill.

The plan is to resign Brand with a restructured deal and then let Maggette go.

I really like this move, but I am shocked that Baylor was able to (or allowed to by Sterling) pull this off.
Great move! If that's true, as a Clipper fan I'm excited.

Still, sometimes it's tough to return to your hometown. Pressure's a bitch.

(Ask Damon Stoudamire)

I was hoping that'd be a sign-and-trade to Cleveland for Baron, but I'll definitely be going to more Clippers' games next year.

With Baron gone, the Cavs chances to make a significant move in this off-season are pretty much nil. While I think LeBron is clearly having fun with the media right now, I think his shenanigans are mostly about putting the fear of unemployment into Ferry. Unfortunately, his biggest bargaining chip is Wally Szczerbiak's expiring contract, and those don't usually get moved until the mid-season trade deadline. So frustrating.

Love seeing the Wizards sink their franchise with the same trio of players who can't stay healthy and, therefore, can't get out of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs. Enjoy getting overtaken by Chicago, Atlanta and, possibly, Philly!

Sounds like the Warriors freaked once Davis signed with the Clips and offered Gilbert Arenas a contract that covers 6 years for over $124 mil. He's also been approached by Sacramento for a "whatever it takes" deal.

Seriously? I underestimated the fear last year's buzzsaw put into the West.
Davis is gonna tank with the Clippers. He picked a great year to play all 82 games. If they're lucky the Clippers get 2 good years out of him before he turns back into glass.

Reports right now are suggesting Elton Brand and Josh Smith are BOTH signing with Philadelphia.

Considering the East, I'd pencil a starting lineup of Andre Miller, Iguodala, Smith, Brand and Dalembert into the Eastern Finals.

Never take a Duke graduate at his word.

The Sixers don't have the cap space to sign Brand and Smith. They traded Carney and Booth so they'd have enough to sign Brand. Plus, it'd take a front loaded deal to pry Smith away from the Hawks.

The life of a Clipper's fan....what a kick in the balls!

Does no one weep for Seattle???

Miami signed 6'8 swingman James Jones who starred at The University of Miami and currently is the 2nd best 3 pt shooter in the NBA. Mabey Miami can trade Shawn Marion and others in their quest for a center to join Michael Beasley in the front court. Hopefully a lineup of...
PG Mario Chalmers
SG Dwayne Wade
SF James Jones
PF Michael Beasley/Udonis Haslem
C A New Center

will make up for the Heat's atrocious 2007 season.
I was rooting for the Bulls to get Wade. Guess the Heat weren't that stupid. We'll have to see how good Chalmers is.

There is no C available in the NBA worth $18 mil. If the Heat were going to make a move it would've been for Brand. The Heat are going to play out the year with Marion and make a play for Boozer in 2009, let Udonis walk in 2010, and try to extend Wade when he opts out.

It's only rookie camp, but Chalmers has played really good so far. The thing I like about him is he plays D, has good A/T ratio's and he can shoot.

I'm more mortified by the fact that Oklahoma City will be home to an NBA franchise.

Hey, I'm sure there are lots of great people who live in Oklahoma, I know at least a couple of them, but from my experience the state is a shit-hole.

Though if you ever want to buy cheap U.S. Army ammo boxes from make-shift "antique stores" along the side of the road, it's certainly the state to visit.
