LOS ANGELES — Will Smith 's soon-to-open private school is not a Scientology facility, as some reports have suggested, the academy's director said.

Smith and his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, have founded the New Village Academy, scheduled to open in September.

The school will use instructional methods developed by Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard called study technology. And a few teachers belong to the church.

But the couple say they are not Scientologists, and the academy's director insists the facility has no religious affiliation.

"We are a secular school, and just like all nonreligious independent schools, faculty and staff do not promote their own religions at school or pass on the beliefs of their particular faith to children," New Village Academy director Jacqueline Olivier told the Los Angeles Times.

Oliver said some of the school's staffers are Scientologists, Muslim, Christian or Jewish.

In addition to reading and math, the school offers classes on yoga, robotics and etiquette.
Robotics and etiquette? This school is training kids to take over the world!

He's denied it many times, and so have his reps. I'd say being proud of being a Scientologist and not hiding it is a big part of being one, so if he's saying he studies it but doesn't subscribe to it I'd guess I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and believe him. Denying it in public and print seems like something they'd frown on.

You can study the practices of Scientology and not belong to the group at all. Scientology takes many of their treatments from scientific sources that actually do work...Hubbard just turned it into a money gobbling religion. He was a lunatic.

I've gone to a guy who actually uses alot of techniques Scientology uses, in order to help keep the mind healthy and unclogged with negative repressions and neuroses, and it's the same principles used in Scientology...but he has no affiliation with them.

So you can believe in Alien Ghosts & activating your secret superpowers without believing in Scientology? Where's the fun in that? Well, at the very least it would be cheaper.

There's no way in hell I would want a Scientologist teaching at my school. Come out of the closet Will!!

After finishing work on the film Hancock, Smith gave crew members gift cards for a Scientology personality test at any Church of Scientology center as a wrap present; this despite the fact that initial personality tests given by the organization are usually gratis.
Wow. Will Smith sucks.

Worst wrap present ever.

Not only is that a shitty present - shittier than socks and underwear, but not as shitty as herpes - but it's strongly reminiscent of the George Costanza "Human Fund" gift that he gave to his co-workers.

Can't believe they got Will too.

Ah well. It's a craze, right?

Oh, Will, Will, Will. (shakes head sadly)

What's the matter? Fruit baskets not good enough? You couldn't plant trees in Israel for each of the crew? US Savings Bonds not cutting it? Geez. What about a personally autographed picture of yourself shaking hands with each crew member? Costs you nothing.

Drew Carey used to take his crew and their families for all expenses paid vacations. Just sayin'.

75 million years ago, Xenu brought billions of people to Earf in spacecraft resembling Douglas DC-8 airliners.
Which is unusual, since the DC-8 was prone to pressurisation metal fatigue. You'd think Xenu would know better.

Unless they were on offer.

Is "Study Technology" like what they depict in Battlefield Earth? 'Cause Barry Pepper and his caveman friends learned how to fly a fighter jet in 5 minutes! Hook me up wit that!

If I worked on Hancock, I would want Will Smith to give me a RAP present!
