Shaq is livin' large.....

As you might or might not know, Shaquille O' Neal has 6 rap albums out including a best of CD. How many CDs has he sold?

20

Total.

While I am by no means a Shaq rap fan (good god), that article is hating for hatings sake. Those sales are for this year only (as in the last 6 months). While still awful, its not all that surprising. The albums aren't exactly fresh you know. They did sell much more upon initial release, but your post (and to a lesser extent, the article) makes it sound like he only sold 20 copies ever.

I'm pretty sure a couple of his albums went platinum or gold. I'm not about to do the research to back that up though.

Do any of these CDs have his Vlade Divac Cheers Remix? Because I'd consider buying that one.

His debut album went platinum and his second record went gold. Not exactly the Zyzzyx Rd. of rap; though he is an awful MC.

He was finally no longer irritating about that and you had to go and bring it back up.

The Kobe rap diss was pretty damn funny, though.

That article is utter crap. I bet most of the Shaq albums aren't even in print anymore. As far as I can tell, and I didn't look very hard, none of them are in print. So much 90s hip-hop is unavailable now... it's very sad. Not Shaq's garbage, that can stay out of print (though they ought to release the instrumentals as Shaq had top-shelf producers crafting his beats). But real, honest to god good albums, buried by major labels who didn't appreciate what they had then, and don't remember it now.

Last time I heard about Shaq trying to rap was when he dissed Richmond, VA rapper/Roots compadre (Mad) Skillz a couple of years back after Skillz said something about the Kobe Bryant rape fiasco. You simply don't call out the Ghostwriter.

Only if you forget that Shaq needed two high-level, All Pro caliber guards to win anything. An indelible memory of my youth is watch Shaq being destroyed by the obscene skill of Hakeem Olijuan in the post. The only big man who deserves real credit for winning championships on his own is Tim Duncan. Shaq, Chamberlin, Russell, Garnett and even Kareem needed high level, All-Pro/HoF type help to win. Nothing against Parker or Ginoboli but they're not Kobe, D-Wade, Oscar Roberston, Bob Cousy, Ray Allen, etc.

Now back to the merits of Shaq's recording career.

What about Jack Sikma!?!

Come on, Molt-Sikma was backed by perhaps the best three guard rotation ever---D.J., Gus Williams, & "Down Town" Freddy Brown!

(That 94 Houston team was just Dream & journeymen. In the play-offs that year he was as close I ever seen to MJ)

For a novelty record, Shaq's first single with the Fu-Schnickens wasn't that bad...the rest an abomination!

Shaq and Fu certainly do go well together.

Holy crap I had Shaq's first album on cassette - I had totally forgotten about that. I also have Deion Sanders' one and only CD somewhere...

Nope. All Sikma. His only help came from his wondrous gold locks.

I want to hang out with Moltisanti and watch Will Perdue highlights.

As someone said above, Shaq's first two albums sold quite well and are now out of print.

Not to derail the thread, but as Fat Elvis mentioned, Olajuwon had no other All-Star caliber players helping him win his first championship. The team didn't trade for Clyde Drexler until the next year.

You're the guy Vernon Maxwell punched in the stands aren't you?
