Pumpkinhead

Is anyone else really excited about the new DVD treatment coming in September?

I haven't seen Pumpkinhead in years, so I'm not sure how well it holds up, but I remember absolutely LOVING it back in the day. I'll be picking up the DVD as soon as possible.

Yep, definitely going to pick this up. Don't own it yet, and it's still a very fun monster flick. Definitely some of Stan Winston's most underrated work.... the character, that is. Although of course it's helped immensely by the lighting, especially that awesome reveal.

Now that I have this movie in my head, I'm going to have a hard time not picking up one of the older releases. September is a long way off.

I really wish they had done more with the sequels (more quality, not more quantity), but I think the first one is a modern monster classic.

One of my fave screen monsters (plus Lance H!). Wish the new DVD had a Stan commentary (RIP).

Fans need to pick up "The Winston Effect" book (nice little section on PH, with sketches and behind the scenes pics).

Exciting news for sure. I do have to point out, though, that Stan Winston actually has two features to his credit, the other being A Gnome Named Gnorm, with Anthony Michael Hall. Maybe not one to bring up during a eulogy or anything, but still a feature film directed by the late, great SW.

Got given this for Christmas...well, I got the cash and bought it...thought it was just going to be Cinefex rehashes and loads of 'behind-the scenes' crap pictures...it ain't.
It's a GREAT coffee-table book* (and, I might add, a heavy bastard for it's size)...beware glass coffee-tables!!

I WANT/NEED that picture of Stan that's opposite the table of contents, but don't have access to a scanner large enough.

Any brother or sister wanna lend a hand?

*I realise describing ANY book as a great coffee-table book is the kiss of death, but damn, folks need to SEE and READ this!!

Pumpkinhead has long been one of my fave monster flicks. Maybe not one of the *best* ones, but there was always something about it that grabbed me. The scene where PH takes the dead kid and rubs its face against the window just struck me as all kinds of mean. In a good way.

I will be picking up the release in September. And will likely use it as the centerpiece of a Halloween/birthday monsterfest of some sort.

By the way, if Ray Harryhausen 'karks-it' this year, it's got nothing to do with me buying 'An Animated Life' and 'The Art of...'

...and in my defense, I've also acquired (some time ago) 'The Art of...' and 'The Making of...' 'Revenge of the SITH'; as well as 'The Making of Star Wars' (interesting they didn't call it 'The Making of 'A New HOPE'')

So hopefully things will balance out...

Been far too long since I've seen the original, and I think I saw the first sequel. May have to give this a rental this weekend.

How awful were the sequels anyway?

Not as awful as a lot of DTV horror sequels, but don't go out of your way to see them. The original is where its at.

I haven't seen the newest one, but I doubt its any better.

What's the difference between this and the previous DVD release?
