As a decadent European, I don't know why, but the whole HOT CHICK IN A DISASSEMBLED FLAG bikini thing really works. Adding the dog tags and the almost sarcastic peace sign and shit, Steve Rogers is beating the Red Skull in my pants.

I'm with Cuch, but at the same time I can see that a day where you get together with your friends, drink beer, watch explosions, and have sex is just a good day all around, and we'd be dumb not to take it.

Not to get too serious, but I've never celebrated America, but the idea of America, as I think most people who are in any way not oblivious tend to do.

Oh my goodness, dude, lighten up. That post was in jest. Do you think I want to deploy every other year to Afghanistan or Iraq? I'll give you a clue, I don't, but I do it. And, part of the reason I do it, as do many many others, is that you have the right to say what you want to say. So, cheers!

Dragged my roommate out of her funk and went up to the top of one of the Park La Brea towers to watch one of the most amazing fireworks scenes I've ever seen - tons of shit exploding citywide. I put The National's "Boxer" album on my mp3 player and it was pretty much the best thing ever.

Watched Nashville alone, watched Dogville with a friend, got drunk on my own, didn't get any holiday pay for the 14 hours I worked this weekend, and, in trying to describe to my friend what "Brechtian" meant, learned the actual meaning myself.

I'd say it was a successful holiday, if I was a fool or optimistic or honest with myself or sober.
