Supernatural Season 4 - Page 3

Okay, if Castillio is Lucifer he's having Sam stop using his power why? Is it a threat to him? The yellow-eyed demon bred these kids in an overthrow attempt and each one's power is able to thwart Lucifer in some way.

It's possible now that I think on it. I don't like it but it could work. So the final is the revelation of Castillio and Sam's battle with him. It doesn't explain why he puttting Dean on these wild goose chases to stop himself from being released, though.

I agree that I like him being an angel much more, as you say, opens the story up much more. We've seen them battling demons, without reward for so long, not let's see the other side of the coin and how they work and, just maybe, how different they aren't.

Monster Movie today, for fans of the classic Universal monster flicks, you'll love this one. A bit of a halloween treat.

It's in black and white. That's good enough for me.

It is?

That's great.

Any other show I'd scream "gimmick." That's why Supernatural is so awesome, gimmick or not, it actually makes sense to use black and white for this episode. Over speech-a-fying or not, this show just seems to nail it every time.

Yeah, the speechiness doesn't kill the show - just irks me.

It's these little choices (like the 70's era 'special presentation' opening they used last year) that make me a fan.

One could argue that Ruby and Sam were doing some serious damage to the plan to break the seals (unknowingly) and maybe that's why Luci freed Dean and had him stop using his powers?

The fact that Castillio let Dean stab the human host doesn't seem very angelic to me, especially after the return of the dead episode. Maybe I'm wrong, time will tell but this could have been the ultimate mind-fuck for the Winchesters.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I cringe a little when the exposition train leaves the station too. But it could be worse, it could be Smallville.

I loved the old school WB credits.

This was a pretty fun episode.

Yeah. Nice to have a lighthearted ep after all the dourness, apocalypse-talk, and bickering. Lots of great touches in this one (including score). Not to mention that this show looks GREAT in B&W.

"I have a coupon..."

Spotted the THEM and DRACULA HAS RISEN FROM THE GRAVE posters.
Genius. Dracula in general owned this episode: the scooter, the pizza/coupon, the sudden lashing out at the gown, his monologue.

I love how you can spot an Edlund script from a mile away. Aside from being hilarious, the characters are always eating or drinking.

From the second that the old school WB shield popped up to the "The End...?" screen, I had a big ole grin plastered across my face. That was such a fun, fun episode that I didn't have the heart to erase it from my DVR afterwards. Once again, I've got to give it to the writers and actors: they kill on the hardcore mythology episodes and then turn around and do the same for the more lighthearted ones.

And, yes, Dracula ruled the episode. I'd kill for a gif of him racing away on his scooter.

Also, much as I love "The Office", "Monster Movie" had more laughs for the price of admission (although not nearly as much as last night's "It's Always Sunny...").

ETA: Dean's "Brother, I've been re-hymenated!"

Next episode is what I like to call Supernatural meets crank.

Dean becomes infected by a ghost sickness, kind of a horrible virus you can catch from a ghost. Essentially the sickness cranks up the fear instead of the adrenaline, until eventually your heart explodes in your chest.

I could not stop laughing at some of Jensen's reactions to certain things, a girly scream here, a shifty paranoid look there. Should be a fun episode to watch.
I had to quick post and say what a great opening scene!
Really good episode, Jensen's girly screams and shifty eyes were great. The whole being haunted because he's a dick is great too.
Great episode. Jensen Ackles really sold the scared shifty eyed wiggin' out state of mind. But I have to say, the little Eye of the Tiger 'music video' after the episode ended was definitely a high point... AWESOME!

"They're majestic animals." and "they were cornjerkers." = Funny as shit.
Dean screaming his head off at the cat coming out of the locker. Hilarious. Ackles doing Eye of the Tiger? Truly awesome.
The "Eye of the Tiger" bit was great, especially when he started using his leg as a guitar.

I can't fucking believe they used eye of the tiger. I think you can hear me and some of the crew laughing in the clip.
Another awesome episode. And yes, I loved "The Eye of the Tiger" ending. Friggin' hilarious.

I liked last week's episode more, though.

Next week's sounds like some good Halloween fun.
Also, Dean standing around all paranoid and drunk was great too. It's the little things like that that made the episode for me.
Oh god that was fantastic, even funnier than last week's. Ackles just knocked it out of the park. The scream at the cat, the baseball team names, the sideways glances and scared looks, his fright at the old woman in the nursing home, his little speech about giving up demon hunting, all of the final fright scenes (Lillith/yellow-eyed Sam/the sheriff), avoiding the teenagers, Bobby coming to the rescue with his Japanese, the waitress with the rash, just all superb.

And leg guitar? Priceless
Nthing the love for last night's episode. I can't decide what was the funniest part, Dean's girly scream or the sight of him running after seeing the ghost.

Yeah, you guys can definitely be heard laughing in the background. I was looking forward to seeing this clip at the end of the ep after I read about it on the TV Guide site.

Forgive me for asking, Domingo, but what do you do on the show again? I'm certain you've mentioned it before, but I can't remember.

This is probably one of my favorite shows, and one I look forward to every week. The first season started off kinda iffy, but it has long since become a solid show. And this season's episodes have really kicked things into high gear. If there's one set I wish I could visit for a day, it would be this one.
I don't like the look of those teenagers!
That episode was hilarious. Ackles is so great at broad comedy.

"Supernatural" creator Eric Kripke wanted to address fan concerns about last night's episode of the CW show. Here is a statement from him about a misunderstanding that fans may have about Dean Winchester and what happened to him in "Yellow Fever."

"Dean asks Lilith at the episode’s end, 'why did I get infected?' And she cryptically responds, 'You know why. Listen to your heart.' We, as the writers, probably should have emphasized this mystery more, I take responsibility for that omission," Kripke said. "But the point is: the reason he was infected is because of a secret he’s keeping. A dark secret that will be revealed in Episode 10."

I'm surprised no one's brought this up - and maybe this points to the reason for what remains my biggest/only problem with the show: it's blatant expositioning.

Was this really too subtle for people? I watched the episode over the weekend, and that line jumped out at me immediately. As did Lilith's line about 'having a good time' while Dean was in hell, noting that 3 months on earth is roughtly 40 years in the pit.

If I had to guess, I'd guess that Dean was starting the process of becoming a demon when Castiel pulled him out. He's done some things he shouldn't be proud of - and that's what the random flashes of his bloodied eyeball have been about.

So, does the 'average' viewer of the show really need things spelled out that clearly? Is Kripke just being a good lil' promoter?
Was the whole "you got infected because you're a dick" thing a pretense? I ask because we know that Sam is immune to supernatural illnesses. Hell, the "Then" sequence even shows Sam decapitating Gordon Vamp and being sprayed with infected blood. Maybe Sam's explanation was simply to keep Dean's attention away from his preoccupation with Sam's demon powers. I don't know, just spitballin' here.
It was actually more focused than being a dick. It latches on to people who use fear as a weapon which plays quite well into what Jesse Custer just said.

No, I got that. I was using the "dick" thing as a euphemism for the entire premise behind the sickness (and that's the weirdest statement I'll likely type today).

Tonight, "It's the great pumpkin Sam Winchester!" I won't spoil the fun, but there is fun to be had!

For whomever asked I'm currently 3rd AD on second unit.
The way that Dean lingered after he said he would come back as a cheerleader was great.

Hell yes, Bunny!

Well, he is supposed to be the "Fire of God". So that is pretty special.

Oh shit! Zombies.

That was me that asked. Thanks for the info, and kudos to you for having such a sweet job! Tonight's ep was awesome, as always. Thanks for helping make such a great show.
Ted Raimi is in the next episode. Sweet! And, judging from the preview, it looks like the episode is paying tribute to "It's a Good Life" and "The Monkey's Paw".
As a mythology episode, I thought "It's the Great Pumpkin, Samuel Winchester" was pretty good. I thought that the concept of Samhain was wasted, however. They could have done so much more with that. Also, couldn't someone have told the cast that it's not pronounced "SAM-HANE", but "SAW-WHIN". Unless, of course, they were all referring to the kickass metal band, in which case I'll shut up.

My Dean Quote of the Week: "ASTRONAUT!!!!"

A good episode.

Some of it was a little hackneyed (did we really need the art teacher and the cheerleader to be brother and sister?), but as the show is starting to dip it's toes into murky metaphysical waters it's stepping its game up.

I enjoy the way they're playing the angels. It's very much a "Prophecy" inspired approach, and I dig that.

Hints of infighting within the angelic ranks keeps things spicey, and the guy they've hired as Uriel is suitably imposing.

Dean's typically funny one liners were a highlight, but the best moment of the episode for me was the moment where Castiel states that their orders are Just, because they come from heaven.

The subtext of that - is something 'good' because it originates from a place we assume to be better than our world, or is blind allegiance to anything, holy or unholy, a form of fanaticism - is something I'm hoping they'll burrow down into.

Nerdy, I know, but that's the kind of stuff that gets me going.

Not nerdy at all. Hell my favorite part of the episode (besides "Astronaut!!") was Castiel telling Dean about his doubts. An Angel has doubts and we're expected not to? Of course that raises the question of whether Cas was telling the truth or not but I digress. Dean trying not to kill Sam's image of the Angels by using the bad apple analogy was cool, a bit cutesy but big brothers tend to try and protect little brothers whenever possible.

On a scale of 1 to 10, an easy 8.98.

I thought the 'bad apples' moment was nice also - as a big brother myself, I can relate to it.

And yeah, Castiel's doubts were interesting - I'd like to think that his questioning is a 'good' thing within the narrative context of the show - that the basic idea of free will as the key to the 'artfulness' of humankind is something truly Good, and that the single-minded devotion to duty/nature over compassion and choice that Uriel seems to display is a 'bad' thing, but I don't know yet.

Which I like.

So finally got around to seeing this, those 720p rips take forever. I swear my cable company gives me all the local channels in HD plus a bunch more but for whatever reason they don't have the CW. So I have to download them and convert them to a VOB file without losing the quality so they can play on my PS3.

Anyway great episode last night. They got back to the mythology which I love. I like that we are getting to see the nature of Angels now being not so perfect. Even Castiel is a cold motherfucker a few episodes ago when he told Dean he could throw him back.

Also the return of Sam's powers! I love that "yeah that's right your demon white light doesn't work on me" line. Maybe Sam's powers aren't as evil as we thought.......or maybe they aren't who knows. Anyway im actually excited for each new episode. The only other shows I do that for are Dexter and Lost.

Excellent, next week's is another Ben Edlund script. The preview looks great, a bit like that X-Files episode with the genie.

I was laughing when you guys implied Sams powers might actually be over a few episodes ago, when I knew first hand they were not. That turn over didn't take long!
Well to be fair it was me who implied that mostly but sorry I don't work on the show
post #148 of 697
I thought this was an excellent episode. I also wanted to give a shout out to the camera work.

The shot from inside the dude's mouth was brilliant.

I like what they are doing with the angels. I also like that all great cast members from the Wire are getting these great gigs in other genre shows. Now we just need Prezbo to show up as lucifer.

I too felt they wasted Samhain. I thought they were setting up a new big bad, but oh well.

Another interesting twist on what Heaven's actual plans for Dean are. Maybe he is supposed to be a new age Prophet?

Also, kinda felt cheated that we only saw bits and pieces of zombies. Has the show done anything with Zombies in the 3 previous seasons? I can't think of any specific voodoo/zombie references off the top of my head.

26 (4) "Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things" 3.29 million viewers October 19, 2006 Zombie
Dean and Sam meet Neil Levine, a heartbroken college kid who uses necromancy to bring back his crush from the dead. But she returns as an angry zombie, bent on killing her boyfriend and her best friend.
Well they can't go to heavy on zombie stuff. The way zombies kill and the way they are killed is pretty gory. Don't get me wrong this show has impressed me with the amount of gore it gets away with but I think a zombie episode would be a bit gory for network.
