Ripley to Return?

My article: http://chud.com/articles/articles/15...URN/Page1.html

If Scott returns to direct Weaver give me Alien 5 over another shitty AVP movie any day. A great opportunity to tie up Ripley's story in my opinion. Too bad Scott didn't direct Joss Whedon's Alien Resurrection script (the original draft was very good) because Jean Pierre Jeunet totally fucked it up!

That's an interesting concept, but considering the way Alien Resurrection ended, I'd much rather see some resolution to Ripley's saga. She's been away from Earth for so long, I'd like to see some closure for her.
Alien 3 was all the closure I need, personally.

Would I like to see another Scott-directed Alien film? I'd be lying if I said no, but Ripley is done, and the Alien franchise has been tainted over the years, to say the least.

We've been hearing all these rumblings for almost a decade. It won't happen.

Eh, it was the same case with the X-Files sequel, but then again that didn't cost a gazillion dollars like a Scott-directed Alien sequel would.

Yeah, you're more than likely right, but the fanboy in me would love to see Ridley Scott bring Ripley's story to a close.

As every being that prefers movies over genocides I would be more than curious to see a Scott directed Alien sequel. But first, this ain“t gonna happen. And second and more importantly I would be more psyched to see Scott tackle that original SciFi concept that he has on the table after Blood Meridian.
Allegedly. Beside the other twentyseven projects he is attached to.

can we just pretend Alien 3/Resurrection was just a bad dream? you know, like, she wakes up back on earth after "aliens", something like 20+ years later. her cryotube broke down, so her body aged, but she still slept the whole time.

In Space, No One Can Hear You Scream Oh Don Piano.

If Fox wants to go to the alien planet I say wait to do that with a brand new batch of characters after we've wrapped up Ripley's epic journey.

Why must it be either/or? Why not have Ripley go the aliens' home planet? She's part alien now anyway, so it'd be an interesting way of adding closure to the series.

True, but I'd like to think there's more human than alien in her.

Yep, along with Inglorious Bastards this is a definite "I'll believe it when I see it, and I doubt that's going to happen anytime soon".

Let Scott do Blood Meridian, give it to Cameron.

I think closure could be achieved by Ripley wiping out the aliens on their home turf as well, she doesn't have to end it on Earth.

Terrible idea no matter who's involved. Alien 3 ended the series perfectly. Resurrection was such an obvious cash-in/fan appeasement, and I pretend that it doesn't even exist. What would happen? Either they continue from Resurrection, which would be awful any way you slice it, or completely disregard the last two movies and fuck up the continuity to do... what exactly? You can't fix a crappy fan appeasement movie with another fan appeasement movie. Look at AVP:R. If anything, I'd like to see Cameron come back and do an epic AVP movie and reboot that franchise. There's way too much untapped potential in that concept to let it die. I'm rambling, but really, Fox needs to realize that these properties should be treated with respect instead of being handed off to any hack or FX guy in an effort to make a quick buck.

I wouldn't call AVPR a fanboy film. If anything I'd call it a few guys with money that wanted to film their jizz for suckers to see.

The first AVP was more of a fanboy film.

But as the case for both you got people with too much money on their hands and not enough brains and forethought to even make a good movie, much less a good crossover.

I'm sure if Scott were to commit to the franchise, it would be on his own terms and not trying to shoe horn all the crap that has been shat out since Alien 4 was awkwardly berthed onto the big screen.

Come on. Ripley's story was finished in 3. They created a pseudo-Ripley to try and re-boot the series and failed. IF they must mine this series for anything, then a movie based on the hive world would be probably be the most acceptable.

Honestly, what story is left for Ripley (the human, not the clone)?
Is there really any mystique left at all in this series?

Anything short of some kind of Earth invasion would be anti-climatic. No?

And I wouldn't want Ridley Scott anywhere near this---rather see him concentrate on other things.

We might as well spend our time speculating when the great Zues is going to come from the heavens and magically transport us all to the land of horny Asian schoolgirls.
