I’m taking a break from listening to books on my mp3 player and crave podcasts. So, what’s good and why?
1up Yours (weekly console videogame bullshit from the 1up guys. Mostly fun, but Shane is a giant fucking douchebag) and GFW (weekly mostly PC game bullshit. Pretty fun, really random sometimes. I like it more than 1up Yours now because Shane deserves all the kicks in teeth available in the world) and Retronauts. Retronauts is a look back on old game series. This isn't my favorite, but it's good background noise. The biggest problem is that most of the guys that show up are smarmy bastards who want to show off how much video game knowledge they have, but there can be gold.
Coverville is a themed cover song show (for example, a Weezer cover song show or indie bands covering more famous songs or Johnny Cash covering songs mixed with covers of Johnny Cash songs), a couple times a week. The host always makes some good picks. I’m pretty sure I listen to this one because Devin posted it once. Pretty cool podcast.
SModcast, Kevin Smith's podcast. As much as I loved Smith when I was younger, his movies have lost that spark. However, I've always felt he was a better speaker and storyteller, as evidenced in his commentaries and Evening With Kevin Smiths. Well, SModcast is a weekly shindig with him and his producer, Scott Mosier, just bullshitting. And it's pretty damn solid.
