Glad to hear the the library has already been picked up, and is going to be back out as soon as this winter. There's still quite a few titles I've been eying, notably Lady Vengeance so I can complete the Vengeance trilogy.

I own the NTSC Tartan U.K. version of Battle Royale that I got off of E-Bay 2 years ago for about 10 bucks, so I'm good for now, but if this new company puts out an official release I'll snatch it up for sure.

I dont understand the trouble of getting getting BR. I picked mine up a year or so ago off of Amazon. Did i get some watered down version or something?

I was always under the impression that the Japanese rights holders have never allowed it to be released in the states, because they had unreasonable demands for a huge theatrical release or something. But then again, I don't know how true that is.

No, your copy is fine. In fact, you've probably purchased the director's cut (for what that's worth).

*holds up cane* Back in my day you had to use ebay! And you'd pray that there were less than 3 sets of subtitles on screen at once, if it even played in your dvd player!

Big deal, I got my first copy on VHS from a comic convention. I have since picked up several cheap bootlegs trying to get one with decent subtitles (which I eventually got), then picked up one of Tartans dvds once I got an all region player. I have spent too much on this movie, but if it gets a US release, I will probably buy it again, because I'm a chump.

So I could finally get a copy with a decent transfer? Sweet. Bring it on.

That's alright - my only copy of BR is on VHS. The second we get an official DVD release, I'm snagging it and retiring the videotape.

I just checked my email from Debbi this afternoon. I'm excited not only for BR, but for the possibility of US Blu-ray releases of the rest of the Vengeance Trilogy, I'm a Robot, and Tale of Two Sisters. I was about to order from Amazon UK, but I really can't afford it right now.

Wasn't it called I'm a Cyborg, But that's OK? Still haven't seen it, but heard decent things. Always down for more Chanwook.... and really interested in that vampire movie he's working on.

Complete side note- how cool was it to get another email from her? Glad she's involved with this again and doing her thing.

I'd like to see them release the Lady Vengeance fade to white version (I think that's what it's called).

I loved I'm a Cybrog, But That's OK (which is the full Korean title, I was just typing lazy, though they did drop the second part for the UK). It's a very sweet and colorful little love story, and no joke, Rain really blasts his singing chops with the yodling love song. Seriously, he's pretty good.

I've been doing my best to stay in contact with her, and I knew that things weren't looking good for her personally when Tartan folded, so just seeing her name attached to another company was enough to make me happy.

I hope I'm still quoted on the new release of 'P', like I was on the final Tartan art that was never released:

I decided this was worth blogging about.

The R2 Director's Cut DVD of BR is pretty nice.
Here's hoping you guys get something like that.

Is there an R1 Bluray version of Oldboy floating around? Did they put this out before they closed the doors?

Yes. It looks good, but not perfect, and features all the best extras from the tin set. The only thing missing is that three hours of rough cut behind the scenes stuff, which was frankly a bore to sit through.

Edit to add Amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/Oldboy-Blu-ray...5654256&sr=8-2
