So I was checking out the DC Chewers meet up thread, and thought it would be cool to do the same sort of thing for us Canucks. I'm not sure how many Canadians are on these boards, so speak up (politely of course).

Myself - I'm from Winnipeg, MB.

Anyone else?
I'm in New Brunswick....which, in terms of a meet-up, is almost as bad as you being on the other side of the planet.
Sadly, I think our ranks are spread too thin across this vast country.

Calgary, eh

Only one chewer per province.

I figured it would be like that, but you never know. There might be one or two pairs from the same city. Never hurts to try.
there's a few from BC, Ontario and Quebec, I believe.
Mr. Fabulous, Greynadian, The Alexor and myself are from Montreal, and we're sorry if you're from Winterpeg.

Winnipeg gets a bad rap, but its actually a pretty nice city to live in. But yeah, too much winter.
I live in the States now, but I used to live in Winnipeg and Mordon Manitoba and I used to live in Midale Saskatchewan as well. IF you know where the latter is I think you probably deserve some kind of medal.
Wait a minute. Too much winter in Canada? That's possible?

What years did you live in Morden? I grew up in Morden. That's a weird coincidence considering it is a town of only 5000.

Winnipeg's okay in my book.

Hah, and all this time I thought Winnipeg was a lame contest for pirates. Go Habs!

Another weird coincidence is that my wife's last name is Morden. We grew up in Nipigon, Ontario.

Ummm, good question. I want to say right around 93-95? I went to kindergarten there then moved to Saskatchewan. I could get exact years when my mother calls.

I would have just been getting into high school then, so I doubt I ever ran into you. You know, because I was too busy drinking to hang around many kindergarten classes.

Still weird though.

I barely remember Mordon at all actually. I went to the museum often (was a dinosaur nut, still am), and I went to the museum in Winnipeg a lot.

Yeah, strange coincidence isn't it?

And a couple of casinos to blow your money at.

Winnipeg's a great town.

Montreal, but I've been working in China for the past two years. It's a humid 35 degrees right now

You know, I've actually never set foot in the casinos here. I'm going to have to rectify that. There is a pretty sweet black light mini golf course across the street from McPhillips Street Station.

St. John's, Newfoundland. And no, I don't speak in a comical accent.

Oh, great. Now we'll get stereotyped as stroke victims too.

I was hatched at Port Arthur General, but spent my formative years in Nipigon...and my parent's money at Lakehead U.

I feel like I've asked this before, but what video store do you work at?
Comin' atcha from Edmonton. & yep, we've earned that "Deadmonton" title. Nothing happens here.

I'm not from Winnipeg at all. I'm from Sherwood Park.

Is that anywhere near Sherwood Forest? Say hi to Robin Hood for me.

There's always something going on in Edmonton. It has the Yardbird Suite, one of the best jazz clubs west of Montreal. It has the definitive Fringe Festival, the Festival of Trees, and Folk- and Jazz Fests that while not world class weren't exactly second rate either. It has a mall that is as close to an arcology as anything I've ever seen, which is interesting if not exactly fun.

Calgary is a city made for athletes and outdoorsy types, but other than that and having a really nice zoo, it's just a place where people put up buildings for making money in. It doesn't have a lot of soul.

I'll see Torrance's Thunder Bay and raise him two years in Uranium City.

Yep, you sound exactly like the people trying to sell the city to the rest of the world ... never seems to work though. Let's face it, unless you're actually here for a reason, nobody really seeks out those things you mentioned unless they're REALLY motivated.

& for the people asking, Sherwood Park is basically a part of Edmonton. But the city has little off-shoots that like to be independent.

Edmonton is like a big truck stop on your way to Vancouver....

I kid. Very nice city.

Not true. My first acid trip was at the Fringe.

No, it isn't part of Edmonton; it's just really, really close. The EPD don't operate there and residents don't pay taxes to the city. It's not like Mill Woods. There was quite a bit of nothing between Sherwood Park and Edmonton when I was a kid.

Calgary does have a wonderful zoo, although I was pissed the big outdoor section containing all sorts of model dinosaurs is apparently being removed.
There're at least a couple of us here in Metro Van.

What? Ah, dammit -- I still haven't seen that exhibit yet! The lil' ones get all pooped out seeing the main part of the zoo before we have a chance.

What about Kevin Lowe picking fights with other GMs. It's like your version of the summer fireworks festival -- I look forward to it every year.

That's too bad. Climbing around those artificial badlands made for a fun end to a day at the zoo.
Good riddance! Even though they were models on sticks, the pteradactyls still kind of creeped me out walking under.

Actually, I'll miss that section if they take it out. Like Seabass said, many trips to the zoo as a kid ended mucking around in the badlands. Maybe they can relocate it somewhere, it was pretty spread out for what is was.

Keep that spirit up! It'll be all the better when Edmonton finally assimilates your area into the collective.
It's not my area. I haven't lived there for twelve years.

I'm recently new to Edmonton but, oddly enough, moved here from Kamloops, BC. Kamloops is much, much better.
