Nothing right now, I was with Investors Group for 5 years, then a couple of odd jobs since including a fairly disasterous attempt at car sales. I avoided Convergys though I know a few people who work out there.

I actually miss the 35 degree days (celcius!) and 28 degree nights. We had a 3 day blizzarde here at the beginning of April and I was ready to pick up and head back to BC after that. Then I thought about the job climate and decided to stay in Alberta.

I always wished they'd make a Grand Theft Auto game set in the Greater Toronto Area, so they could gall it GTA:GTA.

How is Burlington, MisterChristian? What's there to do there? I've only ever stopped at the Best Buy there and that little shopping centre plaza it's located in.

East York, on the border of Scarborough here.

I might be getting free press passes from a friend, so very likely on Hobbystar.

I want to go to TIFF, but money's tight for me right now so I'll have to be super-selective. It'll also be my first year attempting to go. Do you have any pointers for how to successfully get tickets and stuff? I really want to see Tyson, in particular.

Bumping this thread to ask if anyone is going to the upcoming major horror/sci-fi events in Toronto. Hobbystar/Fan Expo is coming up in 12 days (this year's major guests include: Leonard Nimoy, Bruce Campbell, Mary McDonnell, Avery Brooks, and Emma Caulfield) and the After Dark Film Festival which takes place next week. Among the limited release horror movies showing during its week long run is Devin's beloved "Trick R' Treat", which I'll probably be checking out.
I may be at Fan Expo for a day this year, still haven't decided. I've never been too interested in standing in the autographs, and wish they'd make better use of the screening rooms! HOWEVER, I am very interested in checking out some After Dark flicks. I'm currently looking into TIFF tickets as well, but I'll need to hear some recommendations before making a choice. I can only check out one or two of the flicks this year.

Did anyone attend the beautiful Hong Kong Veteran's Memorial unveiling this past Saturday? the monument they put up is gorgeous, and unfortunately, our wonderful Prime Minister didn't show up. Douchebag. He instead sent famed creationist/evolutionist Stockwell Day (the guy who insists dinosaurs, Adam and Eve lived together peacefully before the flood.)

Anyone know of any seasonal Jobs available for the winter? My girl and myself were very interested in spending 3 -4 months in your great country in a "work and travel" capacity, the only problem is that we need a job offer extended to us from Canada to begin the paperwork. Great timing with the recession...

Anyone owns a restaurant or a small business that requires a couple of motivated and hard working argentinians?

That's cool. I'll look into that, if my part of the country interests you. If not, there's a shitload of us here from coast to coast. And the recession ain't that bad here. Where do you plan to stay?

I went to canada once. i had a really nice time, the people were friendly and the area was beautiful (quebec). i got to visit a huuuuge waterfall and walk over on this bridge that goes right over the point where the river turns into a waterfall
does anyone remember the name of what i am talking about?

Anywhere really...
Our original plan was to go east for the Ski Resorts near Vancouver. Whistler was the top choice. But that was before finding out that we need a pre existing job offer to go.

I'd like a Canadian to explain to me why you have to hog all of the Ruffles 'All Dressed' potato chips. Those are the best chips on Earth and they aren't available down here in the States.

Bastards.

Chips aside, I love your country. We successfully depleted your supply of fish last week when we visited Ontario. We always have a great time whenever we visit; to be honest, if it weren't for the fact that I get enough winter here in MN, I'd consider moving there.

If you want to travel and get a job, sticking to a major city like Toronto, Vancouver or Calgary might be your best choice. I'd recommend you Montreal, but it's easier to get a job if you speak both English and French. But I can look.

And Judas, I'll have some Ruffles All Dressed tonight. Thanks for reminding me.

The idea was to go to Tourist spots that use a lot of foreign workers for the season. That's why we thought of Ski Resorts. Going to a major city may prove unproductive because thousands of people might be after the same jobs, but hey, we'd be game if we get anything!

In this case, Whistler is a good place for that.

Kate, you sure it was in Quebec and not northern New Brunswick? I'm from Grand-Falls, New Brunswick and we have the largest waterfall in North America East of Niagara Falls. A bridge crosses the river fairly close to the falls.

hm, no. this place had like, a motorized lift thing that you paid to get to the top with, then, once you were up there, there was a big building wtih a restaurant or something, and then a path with a foot bridge that crossed the river EXACTLY as it spilled over, at least 200 feet down. it was great. also, you could walk down the other side on these stair cases adn get right into the spray from the falls down below

edit: all i know is this fall was between quebec and america, i am not sure where new brunswick is so its possible

edit 2: also there was a big cathedral with in a few miles of the falls

If you are planning this for the winter coming up, avoid Whistler like the plague. With the Olympics coming getting a place to live up there will be even worse than it normally is, and normally it can be pretty ugly (like you and 8 strangers living in a trailer with no water hookups ugly).
We were planing it for this winter, yeah.
yes thats absolutely it. i remember the name now, thanks

that place was great! have you ever been , sneaky pete?
Unfortunately, no...
I'd never even heard of the place until now... Had to Google "quebec waterfall"...lol
post #82 of 89
well its cool you should check it out as long as you are in canada
post #83 of 89
Well if you're looking for ski resorts, try Alberta and Quebec. You should look at Kelowna too. I don't want to turn you off Vancouver, but this winter local mountains will be a complete zoo. You won't enjoy the city as much I imagine.
Yeah, but maybe more Jobs open up?
Tati my friend, may I recommend http://www.sunpeaksresort.com/

I worked there as a lifty from 98-01. It has a massive amount of skiable terrain without the massive traffic of Whistler. You would be smack dab in the middle of the rest of the great ski hills. less than 2hrs from Silver Star mountain and 3hrs from Big White in Kelowna. You're also only 4hrs from Vancouver.

Lastly as a bonus, I will buy you a beer in exchange for "Tati's tips on attracting women".
I'll check some stuff up here, ski-wise.
Thanks, Guys!
Tati will steal all your Canadian women! There's a reason they wouldn't let him in the country without an invitation.
