I was very excited to see the American Reunion movie. I saw American Pie just after college and remembered it was quite funny.
Jim, Michelle, Oz, Heather, Stifler reunite for their high school...
Saw an ad on FX last night for a new show starting on the 9th that looks like another 1/2 hour comedy. So maybe we will only have 2 weeks of back to backers.
Just finished watching "Frank Sets Sweet Dee on Fire" and "Mac is a Serial Killer" I can't wait for tonight.
I love the contrast between the awsomeness of Sunny and the complete shit of the Dane Cook movie that the network has been pimping during the first episode.
And I don't know if it has been the absence of the show for over a year or if it has just gotten a hundred times funnier, but the first episode had me in tears with laughter.
Loved the second ep. The boys fighting over who gets to bang the loan officer, towelhead Mac, Ghostbusters playing in the van, and of course, Charlie as the oilman was great. "Ma'am, we're here to fill you up!"
Now Frank has been John McClane and Rambo. I think in a future episode he needs to be his old costar to complete the Planet Hollywood action star trifecta.
The first episode had it's moments but episode 2 was clearly superior.
I almost fell outta my chair when Mac was stealing the rape van. I was laughing so hard. I almost couldn't breath during the "wildcard Bitches" scene. It was so damned great. And the Ghostbusters theme playing in the background...so good.
Would it be cynical of me to suggest that the staff writers did most of the work in episode 1 and Charlie Day did most of the work in episode 2? Because I swear, Charlie got all the best lines in ep 2 and all of the best moments came in ep 2. Ep 1 was really disappointing, didn't get many laughs from me at all, but ep 2 was fucking great. I feel dirty even talking about a drop of quality, I love this show too much.
I got to that "gasping for breath" stage during, "Wildcard, bitches!" Goddamn. I haven't laughed so hard by myself in a long long time. And I'm glad I was by myself, cause I woulda looked a fool. Such a wonderfully crass and bizarre and fucked up show.
"That's not crazy, that's the exact plot to Jaws 4."
Charlie Day really is the lynchpin of this show, him practicing his wild-card faces were pretty fucking great.
Side note: it's so great when they show establishing shots of Philly and then cut to what's obviously california in a lot of shots. I think they only shoot a handful of scenes in Philly.
Loved that too, BillyG. "You're the one who smears yogurt on his ass."
The whole cannibal subplot was way funnier than the manhunt one (except for Frank's Rambo obsession). Though, I did enjoy Dennis' gorilla mask, and I'm still laughing and horrified that Mac's mouth was inexplicably colored purple from being t-bagged.
In the second ep, I loved them figuring out what roles they play in their gang.
Oh, man, my abdomen still hurts from laughing last night and reading these posts isn't helping. Whew. The second episode was absolutely incredible, but I'll toss out these other favorites from the first episode:
"Monkeys are like nature's humans."
"We have monkey."
"RACOON MEAT!!!"
And the fact that, to hunt humans in an urban setting, Mac and Dennis constructed a blind that looked like a homeless person's box.
There should be a drinking game where everytime one of the characters says the word "rape" or makes a reference to being raped, you have to take a shot. You'll be talking like Foghorn Leghorn in no time.
In the first episode when Mac and Dennis bust in on Diandra and Charlie getting ready to eat the fat guy, then Dee and Charlie explain the whole cannibal thing Dennis just goes "Listen, I don't give a shit about any of this." and goes on with what he was doing. Almost died laughing.

Wow, you cracked the secret of most shows set somewhere other than Los Angeles.
...I think they only shoot a handful of scenes in Philly...
More than a few, I think. I have some friends up there, and they are constantly shooting in and around their spot in the city. So much, so...it's barely a "thing" anymore...
But, a great show, indeed.
The 1st ep. of the premiere had it's moments...(Sweet Dee can certainly gnaw-on-me, anyday...), but "Gas Crisis" was hilarious...
I was telling a friend about episode 1 because it was pretty easy to explain but episode 2 was impossible. That was the most far out, fantastic half hour that I've seen in a long while.
I gotta admit, Mac is my least favorite character. Even Dee, who is usually relegated to the background, is more interesting to me.
He probably gets the least laughs, but I love how completely and utterly worthless he is. Granted the entire group is made up of worthless individuals, but the fact that someone would latch onto that group like he does and essentially become the tag along is funny in an incredibly pathetic way.

You guys are right, which is kind of interesting, because Rob Mcelhenny is the show's creator, and writes a lot of the episodes (he and Glen/Dennis). I've always kind of figured Charlie and Frank take turns being the straight man. Well, the closest thing to a straight man that this show will allow. I loved both episodes last week, by the way. Gas-man Charlie was great, but I don't think anything has eclipsed Serpico Charlie.
Mac definitely takes a background seat to the others most of the time, but when he's thrust in the foreground, he usually delivers. Case in point, the Mac is a serial killer episode, or the one where his Dad gets out of prison.
Thing is, he may be the most fucked up individual among that crew, er gang, and that's really saying something.
Loved the little moment during the gas crisis episode where he's in the van looking on, and they point back to him and he's looking all kinds of creepy trying to see what's going on.
