Twitter

Anyone using Twitter?

I just started using it. Was wondering if any other Chewers are on there.
It seems like another excuse not to talk to actual people and also post your random stream of consciousness for all to see.

Monkeys are funny. I like sandwiches. Where are my pants?

Been on there for a bit but never used it... guess I'll start more, especially with all the events coming up.

I just mentioned twitter in the E3 thread, since I'll be using it for updates while I'm at the show when I cant' get to a real computer.

It's a decent source of info and entertainment and friend statuses for me. The Amazon mp3 deal of the day feed is handy, and the fake Larry King is really funny at times. Cobra Commander is worth following, too, if you're a GI Joe nerd... and I AM.

I'm on there, but as more and more networking sites are collaborating, it seems like I can get the most use out of Facebook and (occasionally) MySpace.

Thanks guys. I am on there as my name caseymoore. I use it to keep up with sits and writers a lot, so appreciate it.

And Devin, digging as much as I can. Glad to see CHUD really getting into it.

Comics fans will also appreciate following warrenellis, mattfraction, and Agent_M (the editor of Marvel.com).

Jon Rogers gets the virtual namedrop on Twitter:

warrenellis: Eating packaged sushi and watching THE CORE. The sheer rock and roll of the writer's life burns holes through walls, it really does. (19 minutes ago)
warrenellis: For those asking: THE CORE was written by a good friend of mine. (2 minutes ago)

I've been twittering quite a bit lately, though sometimes it feels as productive as opening your refrigerator and shouting at your cheese.

However, I was recently turned on to THIS wonderful tool: http://summize.com/ , a Twitter search engine that lets you seek out comments on specific subjects.

Summize is great. Excellent way to take a sample of public consciousness.

Well, okay, geek consciousness.

But I mostly just "tweet" about the Phillies and how much I hate "tweeting." So, you've been warned.

I jumped on the bandwagon as RennBrown .

I don't know how much they'll be updated now that the con is finished, but I've enjoyed getting mini-chud-updates every once in a awhile.

For the writers, do you guys want updates/submissions through twitter or do you still want those e-mailed in? I know I sent Devin and Russ that the Battle in Seattle trailer is out yesterday.
I didn't see that.

Its fine. I just wanted to check and see. I think Twitter gets overwhelmed a lot and not everything gets through. Guess I will send stuff in through e-mail then.

@BRIANMBENDIS and @brubaker (Ed, that is) are on Twitter now, in addition to the comics guys I listed above.

@FakeSarahPalin has been great at times, if you're up for some humor.

@fireland is one of the funnier guys on the whole Internet.

@michael_bay is sometimes amusing.

I've always heard of Twitter but never really knew what it actually was. You can't really explore much unless you sign up, so I thought hey, what the hell. This looks like it could get interesting.

The popularity of this site is starting to annoy. I don't want to hear the word "tweeting" every time I turn on the TV.

The children will tire of their toys in time.

That said, I do feel it's an incredibly useful marketing tool and has a future in that respect. News, too. But as a social networking device it's pretty limited.

You were ragging about it being an annoying phenomenon last year, so we have no doubts that you still don't care.

(AndrewRC is mine, but I don't know why anyone I don't know would care about my tweets)

When all the old people have facebooks and twitter accounts, shouldn't the young people move on?

Yes, this is the way it usually goes.

I've been following devin and russ for a while. It does lead to a weird duplication of news happening on Twitter and on the site.

cklouis: I am in Des Moines Iowa. I don't konnw if i can do this. I feel like I have three data entry jobs now with the this and the facebook. (56 seconds ago from web)

Devin made one of the better analogies about Twitter that I've ever heard. He said it was (I'm paraphrasing here) like a break room. And it is, it's like the internet's breakroom, where people hang out and have brief conversations in between working.
That's an interesting way of putting it. It's kinda neat to have a glimpse at what people you know and even celebrities are doing. What a time we live in...
