Xbox and Vista Media Center

Okay, I'm at the end of my rope. I'm trying to set up my Xbox as an extender in Vista. When I start the computer up, it detects the Xbox as an extender, and I can see the Xbox in my network and select it for media sharing in WMP. But every time I run the setup in Media Center, it says "extender could not be found". I've updated the firmware on my router (a Linksys WRT54G wireless, but the PC and Xbox are wired into it), cleared my DRM file, returned the Xbox to default setting and re-ran the setup, opened ports, dropped firewalls, pretty much every trick I can find online, and nothing works. I even directly connected the Xbox to the PC and it STILL couldn't find it. Any suggestions?

So it's screwing up after you put the 360's code in Media Center? If that's the case, then the firewall is the only problem I can think of, as the same thing happened to me.

I'd also say it's the firewall, you have to allow it. Best way though is just to disable firewall for a few minutes to make sure it works before you go dicking around with too many settings.

I've been having a problem with this too (trying to get the netflix extender to stream the play now videos to my 360) and I am having the same type of problem.

I disabled the Norton firewall, and the correct settings are already in Windows Firewall. When I go to Windows Media Center on my 360, I think it can't recognize my PC. It's so frustrating. I'm so close to getting it to work.

If anyone has any hints to help Richard, it may help me figure out my problem too.

See, I've got the firewall on my router set to allow the Xbox, and my Windows firewall is completely off, and those are the only two I have.

You'd think both being Microsoft products, it wouldn't be this damn hard to let them see each other. I can plug a USB drive in and see it like that, but an Xbox has to go through all this?
