Pfft.

Oooooooohhhh ranking!

Halloween

Halloween II

Halloween 4

Halloween II (Zombie)

Halloween 6 (Producer's Cut)

Halloween III: Season of the Witch

H20

Halloween: Resurrection

Halloween (Zombie)

Halloween 5

I think I'm the one guy that really likes 4. Myers himself looks pretty bad, like Casper the friendly ghost, but the movie is one of the few that actually evokes the haunting imagery of the fall and the holiday itself. Also really like the sense of escalation from the first two, with Myers basically taking over the entire town. There's a few unique set pieces, and the ending is an all-timer (that five, the WORST, immediately walks back).

Halloween
Halloween III: Season of the Witch
Halloween II
Halloween H2O
Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers
Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers
Zombieween
Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers
Zombieween II
Halloween: Resurrection

The top 5 are really the only ones I ever revisit, though I’m a proud owner of the fantastic Scream Factory box set of the whole saga.

Halloween

Halloween II

Halloween III: Season of the Witch

Halloween IV

There are no other Halloween movies.

I feel like all you folks putting Halloween 4 up there in the top half of the rankings must not have seen it in a while. I watched it recently as well and ohhh son...what an awful awful movie. But then again, maybe y'all have and I just hate that one more than normal. But man, it just seemed AGONIZINGLY weak and slow on my last viewing.

Resurrection is the one I've flip flopped on recently. It has an awful cast...but it made up for it by being a lot more professionally photographed than I recalled. It's a good looking movie if nothing else. And at least had a gimmick that sets it apart some (it's web cams not so coincidentally recalling the use of the hospital CCTVs in Halloween II).

And Belloq is right about that boxset. It is amazing. I got it for $39 and it was worth that to me just for the (much) improved H20 and Resurrection discs. God bless Shout Factory for improving those over the much derided (and deservedly so) Echo Bridge disc-sasters..

I had that huge Scream Factory set and just sold it for $250! I was nice and all but I don't need all those bells (and lack of shelf space). They're selling on eBay for over $300 now!

I watch Halloween IV every October. I don't know, I just like it. The town is just moving on, Michael comes back and fucks it all up. Takes out a whole police station, what's not to like.

I just bought one brand new for $40. Is the one I got different or something?

Yeah im guessing you don't have the limited one with the producer's cut of Halloween 6 and i think you may also be missing a bonus disc. The good news is if you actually do care about the producer's cut you can still buy it. Lionsgate put out their own disc with the producer's cut.https://www.amazon.com/Halloween-The-Curse-of-Michael-Myers-Blu-ray/dp/B011ID14F2?SubscriptionId=AKIAIY4YSQJMFDJATNBA&tag=bluray-000-20&linkCode=xm2&camp=2025&creative=165953&creativeASIN=B011ID14F2&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER

Yeah mostly just the Producer's Cut, a little booklet, and some more extras. It was large, and had each film in a black, hard blu-case. The larger case itself was actually really nice. Way thicker and tough.
I have that big set too. It's going by for three hundred, eh?

I just really like it though. It's one of my few status symbol Blu Ray sets, as if anyone cares.
I saw the Producer's Cut on the big screen a few months ago. There are some mid-'90s fashions in it that are more frightening than Michael Myers.

The little kid in the movie wears clothes that are so oversized, it's like he's playing a character that was originally supposed to be played by an adult, and the costume designer bought adult clothes, then they rewrote the character as a child but ran out of money to buy kid's clothes.

"Wear this, squirt. It's the '90s. No one gives a shit."
I actually bought the producer's cut of Halloween 6 separately before I bought the set. And then I was a bit surprised to find the set I got didn't include the producer's cut....which was not a problem at all cuz I'd already bought it. I bought that set almost 100% to get non-botched blus of the Halloween movies that Echo Bridge shat out. They aren't even the better Halloween films....but it was mostly just the principle of it. If I get a blu-ray of a movie, I'd prefer it to be of good quality no matter the film. H20 got it the worst. The EB H20 blu is probably the worst blu ray of a major, well known movie that I've ever seen. Sub-DVD quality and not even in the correct widescreen ratio..
I swear I mean this with minimal snark, but I have to lol that there is a discussion/ranking of Halloween sequels like every 5-10 pages in this thread. NOES and F13 franchise discussions are also common but I think Halloween is #1. And every couple months we talk about whether we prefer American Werewolf or The Howling. Jut goes to show what a huge shadow most beloved entries in the horror film canon cast over the genre, even for die hard fans who've seen em a million times. Just can't resist coming back!
I never rank movies!
I'd never ranked em myself so, after viewing a couple entries in the series that I hadn't seen in a while, I just decided to throw my two cents in on how I see the series as a whole (as if anyone really cared lol) and I guess that got the ball rolling.

I have to admit though....I greatly enjoy talking about the Halloween and Nightmare and Friday series..

I said discussion slash ranking!

And there's nothing wrong with it! I really do just find it funny how we can't resist coming back to the big ones.

I never discuss movies!

Speaking of which....I got that Arrow Hellraiser box as well and just got around to rewatching Hellraiser III. WOOF. What a dumb movie. Even by this genre's standards. Anybody on here actually LIKE that one?
The raven-haired gal in Hellraiser III is gorgeous.
Hellrankers!

1. Hellraiser
2. Hellbound: Hellraiser 2
3. Hellraiser 4: In Space
4. Hellraiser 3: Hell on Earth
5. Hellraiser Hellworld (I assume)
6. Hellraiser: Inferno (I think? The Scott Derickson one)
7. Hellraiser: Dean Winters
8. Hellraiser: Revelations (I assume)
9. Hellraiser: Deader (I assume)
I tried watching all the Hellraisers. After part six, I died.

Revelations is the worst. It is, without an ounce of hyperbole, about a hangnail away from being Manos The Hands of Fate bad..

With Halloween movies my interest totally drops off after Season of the Witch, but I hold the first three in such high regard (mostly the first one, but I do really like 2 and 3) that it's still probably my favorite slasher franchise in a weird way.

It's similar with Hellraiser I and II, I probably like those two more than any of the NOES or Friday movies but after part II I have zero interest in Hellraiser.

Freddy and Jason probably have the most watchable films in their respective franchises but for me the highs aren't as high.

Halloween is most definitely best when it still feels like Carpenter...and Halloween II and Season of the Witch both feel so much like actual John Carpenter films that I just include them in his filmography. As much as Poltergeist feels like Spielberg. He seriously might as well have directed them.

H20 feels like a Halloween movie that Wes Craven directed. Which makes it a strange beast. Probably has a lot to do with the close proximity of it and Scream/Scream 2's release. Even more odd is that it was directed by a guy who did two of the better (and probably THE most iconic) Friday the 13th movies. I guess that's why I continue to like it.

As for my not hating Resurrection? That's just one of those "hey I don't understand why I don't hate this movie, either" moments. I can't argue with any shade thrown at it really. But I'd rather watch it than ANY of the other sequels that aren't II, Season of the Witch or H20. Go figure..

Yes she was! I was so bummed when she got turned into a cenobite.

They looked so much more like Borg than Cenobites in Hellraiser III.

And yeah...that girl was super cute. Probably gave the best performance in the movie aside from Doug Bradley. That ain't sayin much though because everyone else (the lead woman and the cameraman especially) are TERRRRRRIBLE..
It's from the director of WAXWORK. I enjoy it on those terms: Wild effects and one-liners. But I don't really count it in the mythology or anything like HELLBOUND. I can also sit down and chuckle with BLOODLINE. But once again, it's just off and feels like a generic Dimension horror film.

Honestly, I think INFERNO is the second-best sequel. And I'm familiar with its history of note originally being a Hellraiser film.

That actress was on the "not that there is anything wrong with that" episode of Seinfeld. She played the reporter who thought Jerry and George where gay.

I will say this...Hellraiser III LOOKS incredible on blu. Much more colorful and sharp than the first two. Hellbound has had the hardest time on blu. The Arrow disc is likely as good as it's gonna get. It's head and shoulders above any other release. But III...after years of watching a fucked up fullscreen DVD was eye popping..
Arrow and Scream Factory have popped my eyes so many times these past few years with some movies I never thought would pop my eyes.
Have you seen the Scream Factory blu of Prince of Darkness? That's the last one of their's that I watched that made me audibly say "HOLY SHIT" out loud to no one..
Yeah I have all the Carpenters. Most of the Collector's Editions in general. It's all incredible. TEXAS CHAINSAW 2 is vibrant as fuck.
The only Carpenter blus that I don't have are Vampires and Escape from LA. And LA is apparently out of print and extraordinarily expensive now so, yeah...I'm not too happy about that. Escape from LA and Willow are the two blu rays that I put off buying just a little too long and now I'm kicking myself for it. Willow moreso..

Paula Marshall was also Bette Midler and Dennis Farnia's daughter in That Old Feeling, which I care never to revisit.

Nothing if that sort of thing doesn't matter to you Carno. Nobody NEEEEDS any of it..

Any good extras? I recently rewatched the film. Everytime I watch it, I wish it were longer.

Honestly...I couldn't tell ya. I'd have to go look at the case. I'm one of those weirdos who NEVER looks at any of the extras. I'm in the blu business solely for the picture and sound upgrade.

It being a Shout/Scream disc though...I'd imagine it has quite a bit that isn't on the DVD..

Vampires is out of print as well but over in the UK Powerhouse films did a version. Slightly better quality and more special features. It's region free. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Vampires-Limited-Format-Blu-Ray-Region/dp/B01N1NR05K/ref=sr_1_1?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1498272998&sr=1-1&keywords=vampires+blu+ray

They recently released one of The Thing. I bought only to find out a few months later that Arrow was going to do a 4k remaster......from the original negative. No doubt that it's going to be the version to get. It's going to be region locked though so you will need to be region free to get it.

Yeah I literally just watched WARLOCK II last night.

She pretty.

I refuse to upgrade my blu of John Carpenter's The Thing AGAIN...I don't care if it is another newer even better transfer. The Shout Factory blu is gorgeous. And besides...it was a gift. I wish that Arrow would put out some movies that AREN'T on blu yet..

Arrow is also releasing Children of the Corn with a new 2k remaster.

I remember thinking that if The Thing wasn't 4k scan, I wouldn't buy it. Lo and behold.
