CHUD is De la Soul, making excellent music by rapping over music they copied and pasted from various other sources. But they also have their Buhloone Mindstate's, where the music is all original, classic, and still as fun as hell.
Despite the fact that their intelligence makes them a bit less accessible to anyone looking for more songs 'bout gold chains, they're all about community. The brainchild is Plug Four, Mr. Prince Paul. And even though Prince Paul's voice is scarcely heard, the albums are dripping with his special flavor.
What seperates them from the rest is their unmistakable brand of humor and their willingness to go in directions that won't always appeal to the immature and braindead hip-hop fanboys who refuse to listen to any music that isn't gangsta shit, because they're afraid to grow up and learn that there's more to life than nines, bitches, and blunts.
