BARBIE’S new S&M look has whipped up a storm – with protesters dubbing it “filth”.

The doll’s image is transformed with kinky fishnets, motorcycle jacket, black gloves and boots.

Makers Mattel say Black Canary Barbie, out in September, is based on a DC comic superhero of the same name.

But religious group Christian Voice said: “Barbie has always been on the tarty side and this is taking it too far.

A children’s doll in sexually suggestive clothing is irresponsible – it’s filth.” [quote]

The part of this that makes me laugh the most is the idea that normally Barbie is on the 'tarty' side. Guess they haven't come out with Shaker Barbie yet.

On the other hand, I think my Classic GI Joe action figure's going to be making a visit to Barbie's Pink Cadillac, if you smell what the Doc is cookin'.

Yeah, because Barbie has never been sexually suggestive and degrading to women, transporting a backwards position of women in society in the first place.

But hey, at least Barbie isn't a Brat doll. I call that aisle in Target the home of the Prostitots.

Don't..... just don't. I'll go into a Glen Beck annoyance coma.

Looks like Cher with blonde hair.

Black Canary Barbie? My oh my, they really are scrapping the bottom of the barrel.

As a small-scale Barbie collector (meaning, whenever I can afford it), I don't see anything wrong with the doll. She's a bit scowly, but big deal - not every version of Barbie has to have that airheaded vacant smile on her face like the picture Jan posted. She's even wearing less clothes in the "normal" Barbie picture, for Heaven's sake.

This means Lisa will be buying at least two of Black Canary Barbie.

No, probably not even one. I just don't see why the people in that article are making a big deal about a fully clothed doll, saying she's "slutty".

Fucking brilliant. I'm stealing that.

Prostitots....he he he

Glen Beck uttered it first...... if you're inclined to steal a phrase that stupid from someone so vapid (Beck, not Dr.V) go ahead.

Wow...you're pretty protective of Bratz.

That's kind of creepy.

"Riding crop sold separately!"

There's a woman outside my office who wore that exact same outfit.. I found nothing wrong with it

I think she makes a perfect companion piece to Cock Ring Ken. Yep, Mattel does it again.

That byline should be Dan Savage, by the way, not Don.

True. There are far creepier things to be into. My apologies.

That's not something doms wear, it's something clubbers wear. She's not even corseted.

Yeah, a leather jack and fishnets does not equal S&M.

Well, now I know what to get little girls for Christmas this year.

The comments on that article are pretty funny. This person's avatar makes their comment extra hilarious.

Also, it's so cute how the UK has their own vapid gossipy bullshit with a completely different set of useless celebrities. Peaches Geldof?

When in the fuck was Black Canary ever S&M? Well, outside of All-Star Batman and Robin.
She's not S&M, she's just drawn that way.

I want one!

No we just need Zatanna Barbie and the odd, creepy fanboy fantasy roleplaying will be complete.

Only if it comes with a picture of Paul Dini fapping on the back of the box.
