Scenes of the Year

Not necessarily from great films, but individual scenes that worked really well or gave a glimmer of hope in an otherwise tired experience. Keep spoilers to a minimum please.

Having just seen Kung Fu Panda I'd nominate both the opening 2d sequence and the jail escape based on their energy, wit and chorography.

Also, Colin Farrell, a restaurant and two "Americans" in In Bruges.

[ETA: Both those films are great, I just thought these were the standout scenes]

- Joker speaks with Harvey Dent - "I'm like a dog chasing cars..."

My favourite scene of the year.

The star dance from Wall-E.
I'd nominate a different scene from Wall-E - when the ship first puts Eve down, she starts scanning around dutifully, and then the moment it vanishes into the clouds she stops scanning and goes flying instead.

"On Raglan Road," In Bruges.

The last scene (not the post-credits one) in "Iron Man." I wasn't expecting that at all.

Rambo ripping out a hunk from that one dude's throat.

Lizzy Caplan going all asplodey in Cloverfield.

Racer family vs Nonjas

The Troll Market in Hellboy II

"You wouldn't like me when I'm hungry. No, wait...that's not right."

Max dancing with the fat chick and said fat chick flipping off the debutantes in Get Smart

Three words: Vampire. Puppet. Musical.

The puppet prologue in Hellboy II.

The final car chase scored to Frankie Goes To Hollywood in Doomsday.

From The Dark Knight-

Joker Meet Mob, Mob Meet Joker, Henchman Meet Pencil

The Dent Police Van Chase

From Iron Man-

When Iron Man sees the news about the Jericho missiles being used on civilians and blows out the windows in his workshop with the repulsors. Downey's performance was great here in a rare quiet moment.

From Wall-E

Wall-E shows Eve his stuff and dances for her.

and many more.

When Rambo shot that guy with an arrow, then the guy fell over on a land mine, then he done exploded.

Stark's escape from the cave in Iron Man

The end of the final race in Speed Racer

The mountaintop fight in Speed Racer
Rambo blasting the poor guy in the jeep.

Goodman vs. Nonja
The Troll Market
Define Dancing

Honorable Mention: Rambo blowing the truck full of soldiers away

A pair of boobs floating down the river in A Tale of Legendary Libido.

turns out the movie wasnt very good, but if you like Korean nudity, its got its share.

I'd go with this one.

I could throw half of Wall-E in this thread as well, but "Define 'Dancing'" was pretty amazing.

Surprised it isn't here yet, but the Forest God sequence in Hellboy 2 is way up there for me.

Thinking back, I think it might actually be the Joker/Two Face scene. But it could also be the entirety of In Bruges.

The opening bank robbery of The Dark Knight. Completely sets up not just the world and intention of the film (this is the Heat of comic book movies), but also The Joker's 'sense of humour', HL's take on him and the look of the film. A brilliant scene, made all the more effective by seeing it in IMAX. Plus, William Fichtner.

Matthew Fox delivering a jumping-car-punch onto the face of the Viking Racer and then not being able to resist smiling about it.

Training montage in Kung Fu Panda (love training montages set to awesome music).

The bridge fight in Kung Fu Panda (seeing the Furious Five use each of their specialties as a team is a lot of fun).

Brendan Gleeson on the phone, trying to calm Fiennes down and being given his next hit... IN BRUGES!!!!

Learning that the popular French kid isn't actually very popular in Son of Rambow.

I'm trying my best not to repeat ones people have already said.

EDIT: I'm finding that I'm doing a mixture of moments AND scenes.

I really liked that bit in INDIANA JONES 4 where Harrison Ford is trapped in the atomic ghost town. And that includes the fridge escape. If you think that fridge scene's stupid, I weep for you. You shouldn't be allowed to watch comic family adventure movies.

I like the idea for all that stuff, I just didn't think it fit well in Indiana Jones, in the same way the giant action setpieces didn't fit well in Live Free or Die Hard.

The truck flip followed up with the Batpod trick in Dark Knight. The entire theater went insane.

The end of Wall-E. LOST IT crying.

Actually, the Indy fridge scene was very much a John McClane moment.

Agree with both. Seeing the Joker with renewed makeup next to Dent with ruined face is very powerful.
The college chase in Indy IV. Probably the most "Indy" part of the whole film.

The Dark Knight -

The party scene where The Joker relates the first version of the origin of his facial scars to Rachel Dawes at knifepoint. Love the "music" and the eternally swirling camera movements around this moment.
