A Sad Story.

I don't know if this is as common as its made out to be. But this really is a sad story to start the week.

I was teary-eyed at the end of the article, that sadness turned to a boiling rage thinking about how little the fucking military cared about helping this guy. That's our goverment for you, supporting the troops. That's of course till, you know, it requires actual support.

Just read the story and was about to post it, didn't notice this thread here.

Very sad, but a very sobering and real commentary on war which sometimes people from the comfort of their homes think it's a video game.

Exactly, especially the people that enlist. They think it's going to be like Call of Duty or something.

It's a horrble story. The miltary is loath to admit that there are serious mental health consequences to being in combat. (I just re-read that sentence, seeing how absurd that sounds. But it is true)

There is no transition from being in a combat zone to home other than the travel time. The military really needs to put togther some sort of, for want of a better term, "de-programming" for soldiers coming out of combat. Maybe it would have helped this guy, but it seemed like his demons were too entrenched.
