I'm Calling Bullshit on Mythbusters

They did an episode awhile back where they supposedly busted the myth of the cigarette lighter exploding after being left in a hot car. I keep a lighter and cigar cutter in a recess in my center console, as I like to smoke a cigar on the way home from work now & again. I parked my car in my driveway Friday evening, when I returned from work, and it stayed there all weekend. When I opened the door to drive to work this morning, I saw that my cigar cutter was on the driver's seat, about a foot from the center console. "That's odd", think I. "How did that get there? As far as I know, no one's used this car since Friday." Figuring my wife probably moved the car for dome reason & somehow moved the cutter, I picked it up to place back in the center console, and notice that the lighter (or more accurately, what's left of it) is broken. And THEN I notice fragments of it on the dashboard in front of the passenger seat. There was no evidence of charring or smoke, so I don't think anything burned, but I guess the butane started to evaporate in the heat, and expanded, causing the casing to burst. Maybe not the kind of explosion Adam & Jamie had in mind, but an explosion nonetheless. It was forceful enough to propel my cutter at least a foot (and I can't help but wonder if it dinged around inside the passenger cabin awhile before coming to rest, possibly turned into a lethal projectile had anyone been inside when the lighter blew). Anyone else ever have this or something similar? Or does anyone else have even anecdotal evidence (of your own, no cousin's friend's brother's stories, please) of the Mythbusters getting it wrong?

They keep telling me that Carrie is married and unavailable, and no she didn't get my letters, flowers or gifts. But I know she has as I've personally seen phtographic evidence (obtained entirely legally) that show's her throwing some of my stuff in the garbage. They're a bunch of liars!

Maybe it was a poltergeist.

What was the exact myth? Did they say that it was lethal?

Well, I've had a lighter go boom in my hot car during the summer when I wasn't there. Purple fragments were all over my car. It was pretty crazy.

I doubt it would have been lethal had I been in the car, though. Like 100% doubt. I guess I could have injured an eye if a fragment flew into it.
