Liverpool still looking good, and now Torres is back. This is gonna make me sound like a total football noob but see their second goal where Gerrard squared it to Torres and he tapped in? Why isn't that classed as offside? I've never understood that.

Charlton... what to say? 17 now without a win? Phil 'Mr Uninspiring' Parkinson installed as permanent manager? Now our next game is at home to fellow strugglers Forest, a game we REALLY SHOULD WIN. But got to take into account two new factors:

1) Billy Davies as their new manager
2) Their triumph at Man City, their confidence will be sky high

Dark, dark times for the Addicks.

How did the game go? The BBC report wasn't too descriptive outside of the result, and I fear walking into the Charlton MBs at the moment, lest it be as overly negative as the fan boards are for my other sports teams.

I was wondering what you would say about them. I've been lucky to work Saturday mornings, so the majority of matches have been blessedly missed on this side of the Atlantic.

If nothing else, League One football, I assume, will be reasonably inexpensive next year.

If i remember correctly Gerrard passed the ball either square or slightly behind himself. If the ball had moved further up the pitch it would have been classed as offside, but as he passed it esstentially backwards the lay remains onside.

I could be very wrong on that though.

January transfer window has probably never seemed so important for Charlton as it does now. You dont want to be in League One, look at Leeds, they thought they were a given to get straght back up.

Jim, from all accounts it was classic Charlton. We go 1-0 up, dominate play, fail to score the second, and then just happy to sit back and invite pressure. Cue equaliser and usually a winning goal for the other team.

The Charlton board on 606 makes for funny/distressing reading. 90% have accepted relegation and whenever someone appeals for optimism regarding Parkinson or the board, there's several posts full of reasons why the average fan is so bitter and not willing to show favour for the current regime.

Ahh the transfer window, apparently we're looking at 3 or 4 new players to bring in! I'm flabbergasted that anyone's interested in joining us, and also flabbergasted that the board hasn't told Parkinson he needs to sell sell sell.

Another pathetic cup draw for Charlton but that's fine, I predicted a replay defeat to Norwich so we can "concentrate on the league".

Where's the Derby fan? That 95th minute equaliser at The Valley ripped my heart out and stamped on it. Just wanted you to know.

It's been an interesting Christmas period that's for sure. Jewell's gone, Billy Davies is managing Forest and now we're playing them at home in the FA Cup. I have a feeling we're going to get hammered.

Speaking of losing badly, we're playing Man U on Wednesday night. Should be fun.

Russell that match was really unfortunate for you guys, we didn't deserve any points from it.

Nate.. how happy are you tonight?!
Yeah, it was a pretty unexpected result, kinda wish I'd put money on it. Shame we're going to get hammered at Old Trafford.
Stick up an 11 man defense.. no need for a striker, every man behind the ball at all times, just soak that pressure up i say. Its the only way.
I wonder how many players there are who are over 7' tall? They could all just stand in the goal for the whole match.
Send your strikers to Burnley and you take their defenders, they need to score atleast 3 times and you need to defend.. perfect loan situation! 10 defenders and you'll be grand!
I think that's about our only chance at this point.

I imagine when the final whistle went at Carrow Road last night the Charlton players stumbled around, unsure what to do.

Massive relief. I would have happily swapped it for a win in the league but I'm subscribing to the way of thinking that hopes this will kick start the team and get confidence levels high again.

Funny that losing to us was 'the last straw' and Roeder was subsequently sacked. Charming.

The Damned United trailer. For you old school English football fans.

That's looking really good and kind of a no-brainer it'll be popular around here.

Shame I can't say the same about Derby at the moment. We lost again last night, we've got a replay of the Forest match next week which will take a minor miracle for us to win and our reward for doing that? ANOTHER match against Man U.

I suppose I shouldn't complain but it's distracting the team away from our league position, which is terrible right now.

What's your opinion of Clough so far? Not a great start but should he be given time?

The Championship is a crazy league. We finally win and look who else wins. Doncaster win at Sheff Utd (!!) and Watford trounce Burnley.

Warnock's got a point:

Quote:
"I think Charlton should be disgusted with themselves. If they'd put that sort of effort in for Alan Pardew they wouldn't be in the position they are now.

"They're all big earners and they should look themselves in the mirror after the sort of effort they put in tonight. They don't play Crystal Palace every week."
Hopefully these words will give the players the kick up the arse they need. Starting at Burnley on Saturday! Though they'll be looking to bounce back from that Watford result so I'll go for a 3-0 win for Burnley. Optimist!
Yeah, he should definitely be given more time, even if we go down. We've been far too quick in the past to get rid of managers.

UGGGGGGHHHHHHH

I should be happy considering the result was nowhere near my prediction of a 3-0 defeat but the team gave me false hope of at least a draw!

Good win for Derby, shows how much one win can change your position. Unless you're Charlton because two wins will put us level with Southampton at best.
