Well.... really?

So which one of The Hills girls is going to play Janet?

I can't even begin to describe the many ways in which I'll be avoiding this.

Uggh.

Double Uggh.

Oh, and I have one tiny nit to pick: as far as I know, Me First & the Gimme Gimmes only covered Science Fiction/Double Feature. It was part of The Rocky Horror Punk Rock Show album, which featured several punk bands covering the soundtrack. The Ataris (a band I would hesitate to refer to as punk) did the reprise of Science Fiction. I think my favorite cover on there was for "Once in a While," which was in the stage version of the show but cut from the film (though some DVD releases include the song as a bonus feature).

Crap, you're right. For some reason I thought they had done Time Warp or something else, but can't find anything.

http://www.myspace.com/gimmegimmes if people want to hear more from them. They're just an really fun band with clever covers like this.

They're definitely a fun band. Technically, I guess they're a supergroup, since most of them are active in other bands like Lagwagon or NOFX. I love their cover of "Mandy," a song I used to despise.

That's definitely their power- making shitty songs fun to listen to. I used to get weird looks at work when I was blasting their covers of Don't Cry for Me, Argentina and I Believe I Can Fly.

I love Me First, I have the R&B album covering R. Kelley and Aretha Franklin, it's brilliant. As for this article, triple ugh. Why don't they just get the stage show going again, it did pretty good last time out. I bet Meatloaf's kid will play Eddie. No idea who would want to take on Frank. Tim Curry said he had to completely alter his career after that because he was terrified of always being the Rocky Horror guy.

No. No no no no. Noooooooo....

Uhh, no.

Oh, and by the way - no.

I would like to add to Lisa's chorus of nos. And, like you said in your article, Alex, why does this have to happen? Doesn't damn near every city in the country have some sort of semi-regular screening/Rocky Horror troupe?

At the very least this will make Shock Treatment look like a better movie.

Addendum - I just realized that this marks the point at which I am decidedly old enough that MTV has begun pissing on beloved portions of my youth. I mean, it has probably happened before, but this is the first one I really noticed.

Dammit.

Yup, he's quoted as saying that he put on the weight and started wearing a lot of traditional male clothing just to distance himself from Frank.

They did an awesome job with "Country Roads" and "Rocket Man"(tho they're no Shatner) as well

I think the Foo Fighters' (not Dave Grohl) guitar player is in Me First as well.

I actually enjoy Shock Treatment more than Rocky Horror. I don't maintain that it's a great movie, but I still love it. I like the New Wave style music, and I love the fact that it really predicted the whole reality television craze (and yes, I know it wasn't the first reality TV thing, but it predicted the game show element of reality TV).

I usually don't say much about remakes but this is a very bad idea. At least with Tim Curry, he looked like a man in drag, but the sad thing about it, just about any of today's "it" crowd actors could put on the Frank gear and be totally believable as a woman not just a man in drag.

I read today that Miely Cyrus might be considered this. Can't say I'm surprised.
