Sam and Max Seasons One and Two

Reviews and minor retrospective of the series- http://chud.com/articles/articles/15...VDS/Page1.html

A note on the score... I was going with one a few tenths of a point lower till I realized how fucking stupid that was. I don't think that any game can ever be truly perfect (same with films) but for the package you really can do no better.

I nearly bought the second season after the demo. However I recently replayed Hit the Road and it reminded me i'm stupidly set in my ways regarding these characters and would have to warm to the "new" incarnations all over again.

The first season really did have its moments, but not enough to warrant me playing it again.

EDIT: I appreciate you mention this in your article - but I think nostalgia aids this one.

It's coming to Wii, not sure if it's retail or WiiWare.

Retail.... all the first season episodes on one disc. Supposedly coming to stores on August 1st, which would be this Friday. And they've spoken of an interest to bring it to Xbox Live, but we'll see about that. Controllers are annoying for point and click games, though.

The PC version really doesn't have a high system requirement, and it really would be the cheapest and easiest way to get it straight with these discs.

Oh, and if you do get those PC versions, make sure you get them from Telltale. I didn't realize that the Season One disc available on Amazon is without all the extra features I talked about.

I've got an Xbox 360 and a Mac, so it seems I'm screwed.

Hmm. You might be. It'll probably come out for 360 at some point in the future, though.

Just found out that the Wii version will not be shipping this week, as Amazon misreported. The game hasn't even been manufactured yet, so it might be a few more months.

As a big fan of Sam & Max Hit the Road, I have to say I enjoyed Season 2 more (I thought Season 1 was pretty good, but not anywhere near the first game). The last 2 episodes were just incredible.

Sounds like a bit of a wait for Wii, still...
From GoNintendo:

A portion of a MyWii interview with Telltale Games…

MY: Finally, what’s going on with Sam and Max Season Three? And will it be coming to WiiWare? ‘Cause you know, it would be way cool if you told us! We’d send you flowers and chocolates, promise!

TG: Mmmm, chocolate! Mmmmm, flowers! Mmmm, Max. Sorry, what were you saying? All I can say right now is that work on Sam & Max Season Three will be starting soon. In the meantime, Wii owners should start getting psyched (do people still say that?) about Sam & Max Season One coming to retail this fall!

October 7 for $30 is the new report. It just says Season One, though.

Yeah, Season 2 wasn't announced yet. Gamestop's got a bonus disc for people who preorder.

Man, I love my vintage graphic adventures as much as the next man and couldn't be happier that Telltell is managing to orchestrate a kind of second coming of Lucasarts with this stuff, but merrily throwing out 10/10s is insane. These episodic games are fun, but hardly without their glaring flaws.

I just finished the first episode on Xbox Live and I highly recommend this game. It's fun, funny and it looks real good. It's a nice change of pace from all the shooters available on the 360.

I've been playing the first season of this on the Wii. Pretty fun. I've only finished the first episode though. It's taking some getting used to the trial and error of these games, it's been so long since I've played a point and click, that in turn it's taking me forever to figure out what to do.

The game is great, no question about it, but(and I knew this going into the game)... I've had it freeze completely multiple times, and the rest of the game is really jumpy. It wasn't bad at first but I hadn't gotten far at all into the game at that point. I would understand if the game looked really great, but it doesn't. Some of the textures are just piss-poor, but I like the design work.

Someone needs to assist Telltale with programming on the Wii. I've read interviews where they always seem to pass the buck("oh the system isn't powerful enough, blah blah blah"), but they just don't know how to program for the system it seems. All the reviews I've read for other Telltale Wii(disc and Wiiware) games say they hitch a lot. That's kind of shitty. It's not like these games are pushing the hardware or anything.

Despite my bitching, I like it. Will season 2 be coming out for Wii?
