I saw this one on Turner Classic Movies last night. I had never heard of this flick, and I didn't really know what to expect. It turned out to be much better than I could have imagined. It's beautifully directed; has amazing characters; some really nice images and a strong, moral complex.
This film was my introduction to Czechoslovakian filmmaking. I loved it, and I hope to see it again soon. I just discovered that Criterion has a DVD out there.
