The RoboCop re-boot...

I'm sure you all have heard of this, and although I haven't seen any of the films (yea I know), Darren Aronofsky is probably my favorite director depending on the day, and I'm hearing that the Road to Perdition scribe is going to penning this. So what do you all think about this? Personally I'm extremely interested in seeing what Aronofsky can do with a big budget film of this like, but I'm not sure if this is what I'd choose if I were to pick a franchise to re-boot. Opinions from fans of the previous entries would be wonderful..

Not to be an ass, but watch the first one... NOW.
Unrated if possible(the violence makes a big difference in the dark comedy aspect of the initial ED-209 sequence especially). Paul Verhoeven is the man.

Second one has a lot of good moments but overall isn't very good. The third is utter feces but still has a few funny bits.

I would loathe the idea of a reboot if it weren't for the Aronofsky factor. I'm cautiously optimistic.

The first one is the best sci-fi/actioner of all-time. It still plays as well as it did in 1987.

I can't say I am looking forward to the reboot at all and still doubt it will even happen. The only way I would be excited is if Verhoeven got involved somehow.

Did I miss something though? I thought it was rather a loose sequel set something like 30 years after the first one than a strict reboot ala BB.

Nonetheless I think that in a world of Halliburton, Non State Actors and such this themes are ripe for someone like Aronofsky. I wonder how big budget and mainstream this will be though. But apparently this is aiming big.
