Geometry Wars 2 - Page 2

You people must have a bunch of retards on your Friends List if I'm your gold standard. I've been dethroned on every single leaderboard by a pretty huge margin. I feel like I'm somehow getting worse instead of better, actually.
Yes, all retards. However, since I posted about you, you have been dethroned on mine as well, so join the retard club.

And yes, I too have the sneaky feeling that I am getting worse than better.

52 million on Pacifism. Third only to Slater and Alex (144 million? Motherfucker.....).

Still no Wax Off achievement...but I can sleep easy tonight.

Squeaked back to the top of two of my leaderboards, but by such a pathetic margin that I doubt they'll last. I've given up all hope of ever coming near Alex's Pacifism score, but I keep playing out of spite.
I like to think that this is one of those games where once you realize that achieving a certain score is possible, it becomes easier to do it. I'm wrong but I still like to think that.

It's really the only one I'm good at. Evolved can bite my ass. Just look at my original Geometry Wars scores for proof of that.

Never really got into the first GW, but after the review and this thread I caved in and got it...worth every point, you golden bastards.
Also, if your scores arent a big deal, then Im pretty much fucked here...barely made it to half a million on my first few tries on the first mode, but dammit, I cant stop playing it.

I'm thanked in the credits.

Nepotism!
I love this game, however, I feel like the tiny 5 year old hanging out with the high schoolers when I see your guys' scores. I suppose it could be the fact that I only get to play for about a half hour every couple of days but DAMN!

His brother is listed as working in the QA department. Whether or not he made Devin sleep with him between them.

I hope this is ported to PC post-haste. I got an Xbox360 controller yesterday and I'm majorly hooked on the first game now. Great old school fun.
I really suck at this game.
The Wax Off achievement is kicking my ass... I did hit 90% on it, but that's the best I can do.
Best I can tell anyone struggling with Wax Off is that if you have the option between clearing a few more tiles, and running through a gate, take the gate. You get a good enough chain of explosions going, there's ample time to finish what you were doing.

Also, I've done it twice, and each time ended in death not even a second after the 100% tile was cleared.

Wax Off is simple if you're patient. As long as you head away from the first set of spawning enemies, you can complete the entire first lap uninterrupted about ten percent of the time. Then it's fairly simple to complete the second lap (I only had to dodge four sets of triangles, I think).

But the longer you fuck around on your first lap, the harder the second becomes. So just keep dying/resetting until the game gives you that perfect first loop and you'll be fine.

Personally, after discovering that the ship's invincible the first few seconds of Pacifism, I've had better luck crashing through the first set of enemies on my way to the walls. You don't get the points, but for the achievement, it allows a few more seconds of unfettered freedom.

Slater, Gravedigger, Devin, Singer. What are your gamertags? You aren't in the big list of handles in the big thread of handles. I want to taste my own inferiority.

Online Leaderboards. Damn it. I thought my Pacifism score was decent. #1976.

Your score is going down, Alex. I will destroy that score, I promise!! One of these days...
holy jesus, I take a week off and I can barely break a million in any mode. I look at my high scores and have no idea how I earned them.

Saint Mantooth. But my Xbox just red-ringed (Again! For the third time!), so I won't be approving friend requests anytime soon.

Welcome to the Fourth System Club! It's not as exclusive as you'd think.

My gamertag is Desk Cop.

This is a fun one, but I prefer (and I'm probably alone in this) Galaxies on the DS. The touch screen, crazy level designs and experience-based helper drone all make it the pinnacle of arcade awesome in my estimation. Not to say GW2 is slouching, but I highly recommend Galaxies to anyone who likes Wars.

In Geometry Wars 2, I like the co-op King mode a lot - it's like a 2D Gears of War (crazy? consider: take cover, clear enemies, run to cover, repeat). My favorite is competitive Pacifism, as this is the one mode that can be played with beer firmly in hand.

Pacifism is genocide! I would like to hear his thoughts on all the game modes, in folk song style.

I fucking hate you, Red Dog Melvin.

I hate to say it, but I told you.

I also upped my score a couple thousand last night. My goal: 1 Billion!
So has anyone tried playing the Co-Op modes where one person flies and the other one shoots?

Are you kidding me? This is absolute madness! Being freed up to focus on one or the other allows you to pull insane maneuvers. We only had two controllers, and I am very curious as to whether or not you can take that mode to 4 players (controlling 2 ships).

Ha, yeah, Waves was pretty awesome when I was just piloting. Especially when you have no idea what your partner is actually going to shoot.

This made me feel like I was on the verge of a seizure. So amazing. Add me, motherfuckers.

3 out of the 6 modes, Red Dog Melvin is the next highest score. In King, i'm less than 200k from him.

I cannot fully express in words how much it's pissing me off.

Attention Evolved Mode Players

With all due respect for the lot of you: Suck it, bitches.

Sincerely, SixShadesOfSuck

(I know, it won't last long, and I'm sure as hell nowhere near any of the REAL top players...just give me my moment)
*shakes fist*

I can't seem to come close to your scores Justin. This game and my slow reflexes hate me.
If it makes you feel better, Red Dog Melvin's STILL the only barrier between me and friends list victory in the same three modes as before (fwiw, Midi Pulse is on top in Sequence, and I'm only a couple thousand points him there), and if you haven't checked out his score in Pacifism recently, prepare to be fucking horrified.

By the way, something that's been bugging me and my wife for a few weeks: is it just me or does the music in King sound like that YouTube/South Park "What What In The Butt" song?

It kind of does....a bit...sorta.... *trains like an Olympian*

As for the music, I said the same thing to my girl when it first came out.

Every time i add someone new to my friends list, my place in the leaderboards goes down a bit. Im seriously thinking about deleting all you fuckers so i can feel better about myself.
Getting the Wax-Off and Magpie achievements in the same game actually uplifted my soul.
Since I am nowhere near as good as some of you in this game I made it my personal goal to top the scores of people I've met in real life. In that regard I'm the man.

Of course I'm like 7th on my friends list on almost every game type.

So, you've eclipsed my scores in three of the game types.

Oh, it's ON, now. You wanna piece o' me?!?!?

I feel a little better now, I'm back at the top of the Evolved leaderboard, if only for a little while...
