I don't know what to say except "this is CHUD". I watched CBC today, listened to the witness describe the incident, I felt absolutely sick to my stomach. I saw this thread and was going to post about how awful it is, but as I read through there were some very funny and inappropriate responses that had me chuckling and I felt much better by the time I got to the bottom. With things that horrific it is a natural response to make jokes, it's a defense mechanism. I was shocked when I first was reading CHUD but now I'm used to these sick fucks*.

*sick fucks being used here as a term of endearment.

Aw, poor baby.

Transcript of what happened:

Attacker: "I'm not your friend, buddy!"
Victim: "I'm not your buddy, guy!"
Attacker: "I'm not your guy, friend!"

The attacker begins stabbing the victim.

Sheesh, nothing to lose your head over, buddy.

Krish-0, it's ok. You can put your head on my shoulder.
Pff. Like no one ever got head on a bus before.
How come nobody ever says he cut his body off? It sounded like he was after the head. What's the deal with this airline food? Who are these people?
Hmm, this story really restores my faith in humanity....

Some of the posts are funny. Truthfully, it does not offend me at all. I just think it is fucked up that this happens with a knife, on a crowded bus, and no one could do anything at all.

You Canucks sure are a bunch of pussies.
I'm sure you would be first in line to stop a guy hacking at another guy's neck with a Rambo knife. The screams, arterial spray or the cold look in the guy's eyes wouldn't have stopped you, eh, Frank Castle?

The attacker.

Oh Snap! Vic Mackey is back and he's gone Canadian! Winnipeg will never be the same!

You're kind of forgetting that the textbook example of that kind of behavior comes from the states. In the 80s, some woman--I forget her name--was attacked and raped outside her apartment building. She was screaming for help the whole time...nothing happened. The guy left. She was crawling around on the ground beaten and raped still screaming for help. Still no response. Then the guy came back, raped her again, and stabbed her to death. When the cops found her body and investigated, everyone said they assumed someone else had called the police. That's a world away from being in the fucking bus with a crazed maniac weilding a knife.
That's the infamous 1964 rape/murder of Kitty Genovesse. Although I wouldn't doubt it happened time and time again.

If this is like the Kitty Genovese rape & murder, then that raises the question: will a Canadian malcontent use this incident to become a vigilante "superhero"?
I don't know. But I'm sure Northstar and Alpha Flight *snicker* will be able to stop him.
Obviously, if everyone on that bus had been armed with concealed semiautomatic handguns, no one would have been hurt.

Somebody JUST read Watchmen.

They've got universal healthcare, right? At least the guy won't be up to his neck in debt when he's trying to get his head reattached.
I saw this on CNN today and had to stop eating. Just imagining that...and there were little children on the bus who saw the guy taunting the police with the man's severed head. That's not something I'd soon get over, and I'm 22. Imagine what a little child must have been thinking watching someone get their head sawed off. Christ...

Well, there can be only one.

"Dog carcass in alley this morning, tire tread on burst stomach, eh? This city is afraid of me, guy. I have seen it's true face. Buddy."

"The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores, politicians, and hosers will look up and shout 'Save Us!"... and I'll look down and whisper 'Take off, eh?' "

BWAAHAHAHA. Aah, Alpha Flight jokes. They never fail to amuse.

For some reason I keep imagining Rutger Hauger in the role as the decapitator.

I guess it boils down to what kind of person you are. My job is a Flight Medic in the Navy , it is kind of your moral and legal job to react. Of course when the scene is safe first. And there is a way to secure the scene.

Would you call the passengers on United 93 "Frank Castle?". Probably not.
Think about it, is there any reason why five or six people could not get this guy from behind? Or even head on?

I have seen screams and arterial blood, so take that for what you want.

What I don't understand is the Frank Castle comparison, I just said to subdue him not kill him.

Maybe you should go back to reviewing video games and grade-B horror films.

Oh, wah wah wah. Yeah, you're totally right - "gallows humor" absolutely means that we think it's okay to chop someone's head off. If you're "ashamed to be on these forums", there's the door. Go post at iVillage.

Misdirected aggression, anybody?
United 93's a bad comparison, frontrow. No one reacted while it was happening... they were herded to the back after the initial attack, found out what their fate was going to be, plotted, and then acted.

I'd like to see you organize 5 or 6 average people to attack and subdue a guy that's busy hacking away at someone's neck. To call people pussies for not reacting to an insane situation like this is so fucking beyond stupid. But then again, a bus full of Navy corpsmen would have known how to take care of that right away, eh? Unless they were too busy dancing to the Village People, of course.

Alex you missed a chance to make a joke about a bus full of seamen. You must be tired.

I'll just have to wait six months for the procedure.

I've been up all night playing Geometry Wars to review for the site. So... yeah. Although I can't be bothered to think up good insults for this chucklehead, anyway.

I hate that I missed this yesterday. Post of the month for July! Papa Nick brings the awesome.

I had no idea that Canadians had that kinda rage in them. I guess I'm lucky to be in one piece after breaking up with that Canadian guy back in 2003. That scenario coulda wound up like Star 80, except with more clothes.

Green box for you sir.

You can just imagine Canadian Dark Knight

'This city deserves a better class of criminals, guy. And I'm gonna give it to'em, friend."

"Why so serious, eh?"

I didn't say that you thought it was okay to chop someone's head off, so kindly don't put words in my mouth.

Goodbye.

Way to split hairs.

Oh, and speaking of splitting, don't let the door hit ya...you know the rest.

(Misfit waves goodbye as Krish-O walks over a hill and out of sight. A head comes flying back over the hill. Misfit runs like Hell.)
Didn't you need a spare head anyway?
Y'know, he's right, Misfit. Waste not, want not.
I'd have something awesome for the CHUD holiday gift exchange, at least.
Does Krish-0 know he needs to do a goodbye thread before leaving? Somebody didn't read the contract...
He's not leaving. He just went out to clear his head a little bit.
Don't take the bus!

Yeah, you and Gwyneth Paltrow. (Was that the first Se7en joke in this thread? Seriously?)

Nice one! Love it, perfect, haven't seen that one in this thread yet.
So this is the infamous thread that garnered me an email from Krish-0 requesting their account be deleted.

Of course, I blame Lisa.
Why do people request their accounts to be deactivated?

If they don't want to come in, DON'T COME IN.

People are weak. Specially on their necks.
Lisa's still pissed about FIA investigating the pool incident with DSV.

Seriously? The guy gets 315 posts into CHUD and Lisa scares him off with decap jokes?

I tried to find one to perfectly illustrate Krish-0's angry face but this was the best I could do:
Wait, he's leaving? But there was no meltdown! There was no screaming fit about how he has a PhD in whatever we're making fun of/black belt/a mother who.../every Spider-Man comic book ever printed/Ron Paul's home number/a lock of Devin's hair! And I only got to hit him once!

This is so unfair.

Oh, and, on topic? I'm already not a fan of my bus commute. This just puts it right over the top.
