Tropic Thunder Screening

Hey, is anyone going solo to this and can let me go in with them on their pass? I've got a pass, but my wife's niece is in town and wants to see the movie as well, so that would make 3 of us. I'll even wash your hair, if you like.
Hey. I plan on going alone and you can get in on mine if you haven't found another way yet. I'll pass on the hair washing offer, but you will be required to hold my hand on the way into the theater.

I met you at one of the 11CA! readings, by the way. Just so you know I'm not some Canadian bus beheading copycat or anything.

I remember. I never forget a Ryan. Thanks, dude.

So that's why I didn't get a pass. C'est dommage.
I actually have one for you Rocco, should you decide to come.
I'll leave my knife at home. Thanks Nick.

Can somebody PM me the location/time?

Rob, if you're there, I promise to hold your hand on the way in as well.
With deeply profound regrets I must decline the offer of Tom's hand, and Nick's free pass.
Anybody else going, with any extras floating around? The postal system hasn't been forthcoming with the passes, and some friends and I were hoping to get in. Between this and Gonzo, we haven't had much luck with these.
I actually can't find the two extras I held for me!
Perhaps by some miracle, they'll come in tomorrow.

If so, I'll update in here and anyone who wants our extra space or two will be welcome.
I'll be there in all my pale glory.
Eh, looks like getting them in the mail is a bust. Maybe next time.
Renn, I MIGHT be able to help you out. I found my spares, and I have one pass for two that MIGHT be yours.
Thank you worlds Nick, but don't worry about it. I'm not going to be able to slit up my group and get there in time.

EDIT: Pineapple Express instead!

Well, I'm an idiot...for some reason I had convinced myself the screening was tonight, so we showed up at the theater, and of course no one was there. Duh. So we ended up seeing Pineapple Express as well.

As a result, I have a conflict tomorrow night so we're not going to make the actual screening...anyone need a pass? I can meet you somewhere and give it to you. I'm up near Northpoint Mall, and my lunch time is pretty flexible. If anyone's interested, PM me and let me know. Also Nick, if you need another spare, let me know and I'll drop it by your place.
I could take that off your hands, Tom. I'm near Northpoint during the day, too.

Ok, name the time and the place, and I'll meet you there.
Well, I'm still coming alone (NO. I mean to the screening). If someone without a pass wants in, you're welcome to go in with me.
Fuck me, I thought it was today too (did I miss a calendar change?). Well... fuck. Three of us are free again tomorrow, so I'll take a pass and an extra spot from anyone who has it to give.

Got one spot open for ya. Will PM you my cell number in case you need it tomorrow.
My extra already found a home. Someone else will have to accommodate Renn's entourage.
Scratch that, I MIGHT be able to... but I won't know until 11am.
RyanC, you're a scholar and a gentleman.

Nick, that's (possibly) awesome. I'll be checking and if not, I'll figure something out.

Thanks all!
By the way, try and not expect to be able to accommodate groups larger than two. The passes are good for two and it's often hard to fulfill more.
Based on the conversation in this thread (and the date Nick listed on the contest page) I was under the impression it was on Wednesday as well.

Thankfully Misfit set me straight.

Still pissed that I can't go.
OK, mine are all claimed as fuck. Apparently, people want to see this!

Fun flick. As expected, Robert Downey, Jr. is a total riot I couldn't get enough of. Actually, RDJ pretty much steals every scene he's in. Jack Black is fantastic as well - enough to restore my faith in him delivering goods when given the opportunity. In fact, this might be the best comedic work Black has given any film so far*. But Tom Cruise's hilarious unhinged maniac is undoubtedly one of the biggest surprises of the movie. Cruise is just a blast throughout and I actually wonder if his Les Grossman is enough to turn those who've gone retarded towards him in recent years back around. This is the first I'd seen of Danny McBride's greatness and it sure won't be the last. Ben Stiller has some hysterical moments moments too, but I didn't find him as consistently funny as the other guys I've mentioned here. In closing, Tropic Thunder doesn't really hold together as well as I might've liked, but its balls-out midbrow/lowbrow humor** won me back so many times that I'm able to forgive whatever faults the film snob side of me wants to call out. Hey SELF: it's a fuckin' comedy.

*...in a live action performance at least. Maybe in anything, but I've yet to see Kung Fu Panda.

**The fake trailers at the beginning are golden, by the way.

P.S. It was cool to finally attend another CHUD gathering and see some faces I hadn't seen in a good while. Appreciate it, Nick, and look forward to doing it again sometime. My two margaritas at Meehans made for an interesting ride home, by the way. That shit snuck up on me by the time I hit the highway.

Just pour the salt on Ryan, why don't ya?

I'm glad to hear you folks had a good time. I was really anxious to hear some word on this thing. I would have been very disappointed to hear negative buzz.
And I never was able to give the other half of my pass away!

- Martianman/Tom: Strike One.
- Renn: Strike Two.
- Homeless being behind the dumpsters at a QuikTrip: "I'm not that easy, asshole!" ---->

If there is a next time, I won't have to worry about my pals and I'll make it.

As long as they haven't gone full retard, it's all good.

Personally, I still don't like him. But I have enjoyed a good few of his movies. He was funny in Tropic Thunder, but I definitely will not be sitting through the dancing at the end ever again. Some things just can't be unseen. eta: NSFW

ITA about RDJ.

LOVED the movie. And it was fun seeing everyone again. I'll try to come out and socialize more often, especially since no CHUD experience is complete until I've molested certain members of the old crew.

Ah, you're just nitpicking on Cruise. He did a great job with the material Stiller wrote for him. So you don't like Tom Cruise as a person is what you're saying. I mostly don't care who he is in real life, honestly. As an actor, though, he's had a great career and that's all I need from him. I just took a quick glance at his imdb page and was reminded of the films that include my favorite Cruise performances:

- Top Gun
- The Color of Money
- Rain Man
- Born on the Fourth of July
- A Few Good Men
- Jerry Maguire
- Collateral

Wow. He's had a mighty impressive career already.

As for the teaser image of The Second Circle of Hell you posted, I thank you for NOTHING EVER.

Yes, I am. I guess I have never recovered from him being cast as Lestat in Interview. Queen of the Damned wasn't a great movie, but Stuart Townsend made a better Lestat than (couch)freaking Tom Cruise, even with the stupid accent!

I have been trying to come up with a term for this.nsfw It would be fabulous to use in insults, if only I could figure out what in the hell to call it! Suggestions. anyone?
Had a great time at the screening, though I obtained my passes through other channels. It was a pretty fun crowd, too.

Vagenis or pegina? Eye murder?

Well, one of my friends dubbed it "Clitasaurus Rex," but I don't think "Suck my clitasaurus rex" has quite the right ring to it.

You know, I should probably repost that question in the appropriate forum...
