Van Helsing!!! - Page 2

Doctor Whitehead- I take it back what I said earlier on.
That's cool. I didn't think I was being harsh, just trying to point you in the right direction before other folk stuck the boot in. We've had more than a few hit-and-run guys promoting their wares and then vanishing, contributing nothing to the site. I can see why you didn't think it's a big deal, but it's a sore point because Creature Corner, and CHUD in general, isn't some huge corporate entity - and using the bandwidth as a free advert is pretty wrong, especially when they welcome people submitting news. Johnny's cool - e-mail him and tell him about the movie and unless it sounds completely rubbish he'll probably help you out. Like Scott said above, some genuine press coverage is a lot more useful than some message board posts.

I will take another look at the site. I wasn't being snarky - I genuinely could only find the "Contact" button to click on, but if there's more stuff there, then I'll look again. Because it's well presented, looks cool and I'm always ready for some more Van Helsing action.

Hey I appreciate your response. I'm from the UK too BTW but have been living in Miami for two years and the attitude down here kinda wears you down after awhile - my god, I've become corrupted already!

Also, I didn't realize how hidden the menu was so I will correct it.

Believe me though, we've got a whole new take on Van Helsing which I don't think has been done before. It'll be interesting to see Hollywood's version although I'm not typically a big fan of The Mummy and I can't help but think it's going to go that route.

We're doing a comedy BTW so it'll be totally different - more like a cross between The Holy Grail and Dracula than anything else.

And I know Peter Cushing is Van Helsing in everyone's eyes but what about Laurence Olivier in Dracula (1979) ?

Where in the UK? There's a pretty big Brit contingent on here.

Wales, then Manchester then London (Chertsey). Now Miami - BIG contrast, which is what's made me an asshole! Here's a tip: never bring your girlfriend to Miami.
I live in Manchester! Well, just outside Manchester now (moved to the suburbs to have kids) but I've always lived in this neck of the woods. I can imagine Miami is a bit of a change. Maybe a little less rain?
Yeah but when it rains it pours! Hey did you get to the Fantastic Film Festival a few weeks back?
No - six week old baby means that things like that aren't as easy as they used to be. I went last year though, to the special screening of King Kong with Ray Harryhausen and Forry Ackerman. That was cool.
I missed it too, but my buddy went (he's from Liverpool) and ended up being a star when our short one best film. Get this, it's called "I am Peter Cushing!". haha.

hey, while we're on the subject of Van Helsing... has anyone seen or heard of a TV movie or pilot from a few years back called "The Van Helsing Chronicles"? Teri Polo from "Meet the Parents" apparently played Helena Harker, i assume a relative of the family who fought monsters.
Didn't they rename that to "The Legacy" ?

My favorite Teri Polo role: the werewolf in TV's House of Frankenstein! Although I loved her as the hot older woman on Felicity.

I've never heard of The Van Helsing Chronicles. IMDB barely has anything on it. Maybe it never aired? http://us.imdb.com/Title?0120429

LOL, 'House of Frankenstein '97'! I've only seen parts of that film and for some reason get a kick out of it. I just got the soundtrack to it not too long ago - a Don Davis score ('Matrix', 'Jurassic Park 3', 'House on Haunted Hill'). Not bad.

Aaaah, this has turned out nice.

Welcome Mr Kane...fellow UKer here (near *shudder* Croydon...a Chertsey boy would probably know that rancid neck of the woods - although I try and frequent Bucks a lot more freely now, the British Vermont).

Miami huh ? I can only assume those, ahem, narcotic-enhanced schoolboy viewings of Scarface were a little too persuasive, non ?

Show the big boys where it's at fella. Good luck to ya, I say.

Now a word about Top Ten threads, Best Villain threads, Scariest Horror film threads, Have You Seen "XYZ" What's It Like? threads and spurious rants about Jeepers Creepers...

See, that's the special brand of Corner magic at work. One minute it looks like it's going to descend into a bloody brawl, you turn your back, and next time you look everybody's naked and covered in baby oil. Or is that just me?
Uh, no...me too.

*shuts curtains*
Did someone mention Baby oil? That's Miami's number 1 product!
is it squeezed from real babies?

So this new fella was in Oklahoma on Broadway ?

Hugh Jackman was in Oklahoma in London...

One hopes neither Michael Crawford, Michael Ball or Sarah Brightman have ever graced the Rogers and Hammerstein-infused cornfields or else it truly will be one scary picture indeed...

so this is shaping up so far. i like Richard Roxburgh, and i LOOOOOOVE Kate Beckinsale, who seems to be turning into a genre queen with this and Underworld.

starting to look forward to this rather a lot.

they just need to get Vincent Cassel in this as Dr. Frankenstein.

I am cautiously hopeful for this film. Jackman wouldn't be my first pick for Van Helsing but he could surprise. Also, Dracula, Wolfman and Frankenstein's monster have quite a bit of backstory for one movie to handle. Nevertheless I will be in line to see it.
