Quote:
Research published last year in a British journal of gynecology demonstrated that, as with caffeine, "exercise early in pregnancy is associated with an increased risk of miscarriage." Again, to avoid abortifacient risk in women who are not yet pregnant, the draft regulation must guarantee the right to withhold any collaboration in exercise by women of childbearing age.

"Abortifacient."

Now that's a word! Abortificent!

Sounds like a Harry Potter spell.

I just wanted to make sure that the original poster knows that the quote there is satire and that William Saletan is pretty far from pro-life. The thread title combined with the quote implies otherwise.

And the regulation as it stands is pretty ridiculous.

There is egg on my face. I didn't know it was satire. Even after reading some Slate.com comments to check, and Saletan's wikipedia page.

I suppose I might be wrong about that but he's usually fairly reasonable and I really doubt he'd advocate the prohibition of exercise and caffeinated beverages to all women over the age of 15.

I thought that sounded too retarded to possibly be real.
