Congratulations to Jonathan Banks is my hero

Thread Starter
Just wanted to congratulate JBanks on his nuptials this past weekend. I'm still hungover.
As someone who just celebrated 9 years of marriage, I have a couple of things to say to JBimH:
1. Congratulations
2. Learn how to lie

Congrats JBIMH - Nice one mate.

Never taken the plunge myself, tho me and my much better half are just past seven and a half years ourselves.

Hope it was a helluva party pal.

We're hoping that, now that Banks is married, he'll actually hang out with us.

Congrats Banks!

Congratulations Jonathan!

I think your hero-status has been legally solidified now.

Best of luck and wishes to both of you!

Never stop "dating" your wife and never stop communicating. Congrats.

Positive rep for this advice. One of the secrets of my successful marriage is that we still go on dates. It's amazing how many couples think that, once the marriage is over, the courtship ends. It doesn't, it merely progresses to the next stage. Don't ever underestimate the importance of continuing to woo your wife.

Congrats, man. Given your thread on scores, I have to ask if you had any input on the music used during the ceremony and/or reception and what you chose if you did. (I'm the kind of guy who'd at least suggest using "On Earth As It Is in Heaven" from the score of The Mission as the bridal march. Partly, because it's beautiful and about the right length and partly because Lutherans hate Wagner as much as some Jews do and for the same reasons.)

Congratulations, Banks! Couldn't happen to a nicer guy - mazel tov!

Guess I'd better stop sleeping with your wife, then. Congrats, you Farrellesque bastard.
Little-known fact: Banks' wife actually thinks he IS Colin Farrell.
Congrats Banks! The 'dating your wife' advice is solid. Especially after the kids arrive.
Yeah, guess we'd all better stop sleeping with your wife. Congrats you smilin' son of a bitch!

Good stuff. And I know it was probably a bittersweet day for your fam. Hope it went well!

Congrats!

My wedding is now fast approaching so be glad the stress is over and enjoy the honeymoon!

Congrats, Banks. Marriage is a very cool state of being.

Grats! I was just discussing this morning how bachelorhood is for the birds, and marriage seems like a pretty solid idea at this point.

Where is Singer with "Sucker!!!!!"?

Congrats and wishes of many years of marital bliss.

Congratulations Banksy! I hope that she roots for the Maize and Blue...

Kudos for the "date" advice and always make time for your anniversary, even if it just ends up being a cheesburger out with your honey. That day should always remain some type of special.

Thanks, guys and Lisa. I'd love to come in here and make snarky jokes, but the truth is it was one of the best days of my life, as it should be, and while some of it was, like Phil said, bittersweet, it was the kind of release my whole family needed. Thanks for the well wishes and advice.

You know, for many years I thought about what scores I might use at my wedding, and it just didn't work out that way. We let the DJ handle a lot of the music, and for the rest of it we had some friends, a duo who play the cello and guitar, play live. The one piece of film music I do remember was when the Wife (formerly the Fiancee, formerly the Girlfriend) walked down the aisle to "Ada Plays," a piece by the great Gabriel Yared from COLD MOUNTAIN. She didn't want to do the traditional bit and picked that.

I wasn't able to keep up that illusion for long. Only took two appletinis.

Appreciate that, Phil. Thanks. It was, but overall it was happier than I thought it would be, if that makes sense. I guess I mean that my Dad was acknowledged and made a part of the weekend as best we could do it, and we tried to make it joyous. For the most part it was. He would've loved the party.

My deepest condolences.

Congrats!

Hey...wait a minute. Marriage so soon after the deconstruction of the gayness of Top Gun? Hmm, I smell a beard...

I'm a renaissance man.
