Borderlands - Page 21

Brilliant, thanks very much!
Game of the Year edition had me trying to get some more of those DLC achievements.

The upcoming title update's just going to make it worse.

Quote:
The FREE Title Update includes:

* Level cap increase of 8 levels
o That means that all Borderlands players will now be able to achieve a new maximum level of 58.
* Owners of The Secret Armory of General Knoxx can achieve an increase to a maximum level of 69.
* End game players that have completed play-through #2 will see enemies scale to the new levels up to the new level cap.
o That means that if you’ve completed everything, you can play through the game again and again at a challenging level in order to find better and better loot.
* Item drops (with the exception of COM Decks) will also scale with higher level enemies to the new level cap.
o That means that this Title Update features the highest level weapons to date.
* Other fixes, including DLC4 Achievement/Trophy glitches that have affected some users will be corrected to properly award players for obtaining these achievements no matter which order they were completed in.
Hitting sometime in November!

This is great. One thing about RPGs is that by the time you finally get your character just how you want them, the game's over. My Siren is lvl 61 and kicks ass, and I was sorry to hit the cap and have no further to go. Can't wait.

Or maybe I'll dust off my old 40ish hunter...

Damn game is going to get its hooks into me again.

Seeing as how this update was supposed to come out when the Robot Revolution DLC was released, November is quite late. I'm sure the glut of new games coming out and perhaps other factors in certification delayed it longer than expected. It wouldn't be the first time.

Update is live! PC owners can get it here- http://www.gearboxsoftware.com/games/borderlands/

Thank Christ, I've been waiting for this so my usual crew of Vault Hunters would actually play the damn DLC.
Did consoles get it yet or just PCs?

Curse my lack of reading.
I read somewhere that the patch is now live for all platforms.

If somewhere is Destructoid then that's not the case, they're just doing their usual anti-journalism thing.

No, it was somebody on Twitter and then a random site from a google search (that I can't remember what it was now). It's not like I can actually check myself until I get home though.

Well I just loaded Borderlands up and there was no update.

I haven't fired it up yet but was informed by 2k that it was supposed to be available right now...

Nope. I think the PS3 version is out, but the 360 version is still in with Microsoft.
This is getting ridiculous. I have this weird feeling that it's not technical issues, it's the fact the update includes so much content M$ pulled it because they want to list it as DLC.

ETA: Aaaaaaand it's out. So much for my conspiracy theory.

I was about to call shenanigans on Microsoft as well, but looks like that was wrong.

Don't think that MS didn't try to make the update chargable, though.

As a spurned Team Fortress 2 player on the 360, I know Microsoft isn't above such a tactic.

ETA: Nice avatar! I love that show.

Hadn't played in a while. Dusted off good old Mordecai, started a Playthrough 2, and ground my way towards Dr. Ned's. But the expansion is tearing my ass off. I am level 39, and it recommends 42. I don't know how it's supposed to go, but each zombie takes a while to kill, with defilers taking forever. I was reincarnated (or whatever) to the tune of most of my 600,000 in savings (I don't care about the money, I'll rack that back up, I know) in Hallow's Eve, because I kept being reborn right next to zombies fucking me up.

So...am I doing it wrong? I'm cranking fire and explosive weapons. But this feels way too hard compared to the rest of the game. Should I bail back to the main game and level a few times (the levels are taking a while on this playthrough) before coming back? Or do I just plug on, buying ammunition, running away and sniping, and waiting to hit level 42 so I can use the better guns in my arsenal?

Explosive headshots is the way to go with the zombies and extreme corrosive resistance shields. It's a tough expansion though. With those two though, you should be able to level up a few levels fairly quickly.

Yes, dear God. If I didn't have an explosive shotgun the Braaaaaaains quest would have taken forever.

Robot Revolution is very good. Not quite as expansive as Knox, or as punchy as Zombie Island but it's still 90% better than any other bit of DLC out there and it runs for a good 10 to 12 hours, with about another half dozen needed to get all the achievements. Really funny too.

So I'd love to play this game with some chewers. I started on my own a long while ago but I haven't played it in equally as long. Anyone be willing to start a new character from scratch and go through the game at some point? I have the first two or three DLC's and would gladly buy the ones I don't have as well.

I've got a Level 10 hunter, I'd be happy to restart as a Brick or Siren though.
I have everything but the latest DLC (gonna get it as soon as Microsoft sends those free points my way), and I have a couple different lower level characters lying around.
Ahh, my normal crew, sweet! I've seen you guys with level 60 characters typically so I wasn't sure if you'd want to restart. I believe my first character is a hunter so I'd probably play as someone different this time.

I was kind of hoping that we might get an announcement of Borderlands 2 at this years E3, but Pitchford quashed the rumours that had been bubbling up for the last few days.

The thing that jumped out to me about this was how generous Pitchford was in his statement. He really went out of his way to explain the situation and clarify any questions people might have about the project. In a world of taciturn, bullet point spouting, developers it's nice to see someone who can answer questions engagingly.

I honestly can't wait for more from the Borderlands series. Aside from being slightly stung by the final bit of DLC Borderlands was my favourite game of 2009 and the DLC they released was well above the bar. Even Moxxi and the Claptrap Revolution were better than most other DLC whilst the Zombie Island of Dr. Ned and Knoxx's Secret Armory were some of the best additional content this generation.
