Who plays as the chick?

<embarrassing revelation>Whenever I sit down and play a fighting game or action game, I always tend to choose the female characters and I'm a dude. Is this weird or are the female characters in these games easier to kick ass with and thus more fun to play? I can't be the only one. Please let me not be the only one<embarrassing revelation>

you're totally gay. Tell your parents.

its true
same thing happened to my nephew. now he's my niece.
its gonna happen to you too, just wait

The only way you can solve this is to start cosplaying as female characters and then post it on the internet. Ever wondered where Fat Sailor Moon came from? He played as girls in videogames.

Wait, you guys choose to manipulate the big sweaty muscular man in these games?

Liberace-gay.

I can't help it that Zangief is my favorite character. ( ._.)

This thread is pretty funny, but don't feel bad. When I use to play Resident Evil, I would choose Jill Valentine because the game was much, much easier with her.

Another reason not to feel bad: I'm typing this post using a candy pink Sony Vaio.

To counterbalance this candy-ass of mine: I am watching clips of Naughty America and Brazzers while cleaning an M-16 and spitting copious amounts of tobacco juice out of my cumcatcher.

To quote Private Joker: "it's a jungian thing."

How'd the tranny thing turn out, by the by? Not baiting, actually curious.

Which is less gay, dressing your female Shepard in skin tight space suits or your male Shepard in Mass Effect? Exactly.

The first temptation is to be more embarrassed but hell, you guys are funny. I just find it interesting that if it were such a rare occurrence that you would see games like Dead or Alive and Rumble Roses getting made (and by all accounts being reasonable hits). And don't tell me those games were made for girls. Those games are the skinemax of console gaming.

You don't need a psych degree to understand the appeal to a male of being in complete control over a sexy, young, strong, and often smart female. Or the appeal of staring at T&A for your 10-50 hours of gameplay instead of Pecs&ManAss.

If a game makes gender matter (like Mass Effect), or immerses me in the story enough to feel like "I'm in the game", I'll tend to play a male character. Otherwise, like every other part of my life, I'll never turn down a little jiggle on the side!

Besides, it's well known that staring at male buttage for too long makes you go fruitypants.

Meh. I thought that Beyond Good & Evil was a great game, and the protagonist was a woman. I've just been recently horribly underwhelmed when playing as Zelda or Peach in SSBB, so maybe that's what's coloring my perception more than anything.

Way back when I had STREETS OF RAGE on the Genesis, I played Blaze all the time. Otherwise, I'm a sausage player, m'self.

My first time playing a female in a game was Pai from Virtua Fighter. She was arguably the strongest character in parts 1 and 2 so I guess I had a good first impression. Also I tend to like the faster characters over the more powerful, slow ones. Call it the Buffy/Xena effect.

That little kink has died down for the moment. I'm stationed here in Korea, and that kind of stuff here isn't that prevelant like it would be in say, Mexico or Thailand.

So, I make do with good ol' fashioned slopholes. As God intended.

But enough of that, I also use to play Streets of Rage, but never as the chick on that one. Always the black dude. Does that make me a self-loathing white guy? No. I just liked the way the dude would slam people.

I remember playing with the sound effects on the Options menu with SoR, and I would make a dude moan followed by the chick moaning. Then laugh and laugh and laugh for no reason at the time. If I did that now, that sarcastic streak of mine would turn into a sincere orgasm. Why? Because I'm an easily amused deviant.

In an W-Rpg i'll play as a chick at least once or twice, one play through is to be an absolute bitch (renegade in Masseffect, Closed Fist in Jade Empire or Dark Side with Kotor)

kinda looking forward to being a sexually promiscuous lass in Fable 2, if the achievements are true...

I always play a female character in MMO's, or any game with a behind-the-character perspective, really. Why? Because if I'm going to stare at an ass for several hours of my life, I'd rather it was a woman's. But I'm funny that way.

Garnett Lee feels the same way. Joke stealer.

Who that is?

edit:
Nevermind, I googled him. So I'm unwittingly stealing material from 1UP now, am I? I think I'll go sit on a knife.

I completely understand your point, but at the same time there's a tug towards wanting to role play. That part of your brain that says "I am Izuu, fierce warrior of the Orcish Horde!", and then the other side that wants to kick your own ass...

It's a deadly cycle of sexual perversion and geeky escapism.

I've got a friend that unfailingly plays as females in MMORPGs because he insists it's easier to get other players to help or form groups if they think you're actually a girl.

I see his logic, but it's disturbing nevertheless.

That's pretty much a well known fact, a wink and a dance will get you as much gold as you could possibly use.

It works in video games too.

Yeah, I came in here to say this. Pretty much all RPG's I'll make a female if I can. I have a few male characters in WoW I regret, because while they may look badass, I just can't peddle their nakedness in Ironforge like I could a cute gnome gal.

I can't tell you how many of my friends have made the same "If I'm going to look at my toon from behind..." joke. I can see your point for the first 2 minutes you play a game. After that, let's be honest. You aren't looking at your toon at all. You're too busy taking in the surroundings if the game is worth anything at all.
Depends on the game, I guess. I have several female characters on WoW, in addition to the countless male ones. But in say, Soul Calibur IV, I'm almost exclusively playing Xianghua, because I like her fighting style the best.

Playing WoW, if you're in a raid, especially as a tank, you spend a LOT of time staring at your toons ass and hot keys. Damn do I wish my male dwarf was a female night elf.

Why do you think Tomb Raider sold 32 different iterations over the last 10 years, of which maybe only two were any good? Player controlled camera and big tits.

But in retrospect, they weren't even well realized big tits. They were angular and torpedo like. Lara Croft's design was a blocky, polygonal mess. Were we, as a society, so starved for sex in the mid/late 90's that Tomb Raider was our only outlet?

But don't people wonder what's going on when they hear a guy's voice? Or do they just assume you are Nicole Bass?

Same here, although I focused on Seung Mina. In fighting games, I tend to favor the light, quick characters, and those are generally female. So in that case, it's a coincidence. Ivy, for instance, I don't play much. Her attacks are cool, but she's too slow for my tastes.
