Too Human

Is anyone planning on picking this up next week? I thought the demo was pretty good, so I preordered a copy. The online Co-op seems pretty sweet, so I needs someone to team up with for this.
Too many games, not enough time. I liked the demo too, but I have too many unfinished games on my shelf to justify buying anything else until the holidays roll around.
I saw an ad for it in a magazine and it looked interesting. Where is this "demo" you speak of?

Looks a lot like a God of War rip off from the one page ad I saw.

This is coming out next week? Man, am I out of it. Or has the advertising been quiet? Seems unlikely, considering it's a Silicon Knights game of epic proportions.

I swear I'm in minority of hating this fucking game. If that demo is what the final game is like, pass.

Demo's on Xbox Live, natch.

It's not really like GoW, it's a level/loot action-RPG much like Diablo. There's a lot of internet drama behind its development that you really don't want to waste your time reading or hearing about.

The release date is listed as 8-19-08 on Amazon, so hopefully that's solid.

For me it combines elements of Diablo/Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance (looting and upgrading, mainly) with the more brainless melee pleasures of something like Dynasty Warriors (a series I love for no defensible reason. I haven't bought one this generation, but Warriors Orochi 2 may get me. Ninety-Nine Nights doesn't count. I loved that one too, though).

Also, as mentioned above, the online co-op looks cool.

You're not alone. Could not stand the demo.

Thank god. Everyone I know was fellating this game, and I felt like a mouthbreather. Like maybe I suck at it or I don't get it. So I tried it again. And it still was a piece of shit.

Same here. Maybe we can hold hands as we run away from this fireball of shit? That way we can both keep the same pace.

Yeah, I kinda figured it might have been an xbox live thing but after Metal Gear Solid 4 and having to do the pre-pay thing at GameStop and after a decade of PC games having demo's on magazines.. I had to ask.

I liked Diablo.. a lot... OK, I'll hook up my wireless internet thingie for my 360 and download the demo ... maybe tomorrow...

Thanks for the heads up!

This game is laughably bad. The combat is unbelievably repetitive, the story is like something a kid would scribble on the back of his notebook in jr. high (dude, what if Norse mythology really was, like, in the future with robots and shit! Fuck yeah!) and the animation is embarassing. It's hard to believe that a game that's been in development (in one form or another) for over a decade could fail this hard.
Agreed. I'm not sure I would have forgiven it even had it been a 360 introductory release -- at this stage it's just laughable. The cutscenes in the demo alone had me hitting the skip button.

Shame, really.

I didn't think the demo was awful. But it felt "just average" enough for it to pretty much drop off my new release radar. I'm another person with a huge backlog of unfinished games in my collection. Too Human didn't feel like a game I'd want to play ahead of games I haven't finished, like Half-Life 2, Ninja Gaiden 2, and many others. And there'll be no shortage of must have games releasing this fall, like Fallout 3, Gears of War 2, Rock Band 2, etc. Too Human just doesn't make the cut for me.
The Demo is just boring, and the upgrading seemed even more awkard than it was in Mass Effect.
I was expecting a lot from this game and then the demo had to go and dash my hopes. What really pissed me off is the camera system. I can deal with the repitative gameplay because I know that there is some fun to be had with the rpg elements but I hate fucked up cameras. Maybe I'll pick this up when it hits $20 or less.

Loved the demo.

Picking up my copy on Tuesday, and I can't wait.
Demo was awful but I might give it a shot once it hits the clearance rack. I'm still annoyed and confused by the terribly implemented, occasionally playable flashback sequences.
The Naruto demo is more in depth than this. Boo this game! BOO!
I would have thought this game was fucking amazing if it was on the Playstation.
I haven't followed any of the drama surrounding this game at all, so I knew nothing aside from the fact that the Eternal Darkness guys were behind it.

Played it for about 10 minutes before deciding I really just kinda hated its fucking guts.
Fuck, never mind Denis Dyack having to eat a three-course meal of his own words, what's going to happen to Silicon Knights?

Download the 1up Your podcast from a few weeks ago where Denis Dyack (the head Silicon Knights guy) goes on a 45 minute rant about how people shouldn't be mean on the internets and you'll hate it even more.
I'm find myself wondering how many times a day their Marketing Department wish they could duct tape the guy and lock him in a closet and let the game speak for itself. I'm sure the programming/art team also have similar thoughts.

The game itself is okay presentation wise. The only bother with the game is the lack of ability to heal yourself or regenerate health in the singleplayer game because the Valkrie death animation gets really fucking old when you can't skip it. I also wish there was the option for same screen co-op so me and the wife could play together without having to use another xbox.

I was expecting a fucking trainwreck with that Unreal Engine sucks drama stirred up earlier. The game isn't Two Worlds bad...but it's not special either.
The game isn't bad per say, or at least it doesn't deserve all the hate Dyack brought its way. For better or worse Too Human has been swarming with gaming press thanks almost only to Dennis...
The opening movie for this game was sweet. The chick with the biodegraded face and nice rack left my groin confused. Combat seems okay. Looks like the game would be better with co-op.

The co-op is certainly more fun, but 2 player only. It's a shame they couldn't have gone 4 player. After playing through this, the game is littered with problems. The controls aren't as responsive as they should be, I've had a couple of crippling bugs, and the stroy is laughable, but I really am addicted to armor and weapon upgrades. There are so many combinations, that I find something new after every battle. This is nowhere near as good as I had hoped it would be, but a decent experience nonetheless.
