Pop Culture T-Shirts

Yeah, some of my wardrobe resembles childish ads for my favorite properties (films, bands, cereal mascots, cartoon characters, etc). Instead of sports teams, I pimp KING KONG, BATMAN, SLEESTAK, or COOKIE MONSTER. I'm a manchild I guess, but I work for a video game developer, so my current career trajectory is a major enabler. I mix it up with the occassional button-down (usually Hawaiian, as I'm a big fat party animal who learned to dress from watching too much ALF as a kid) or polo shirt, but I tend to be sucker for nostalgia trips, a good concept, humor, and sharp execution.

This thread was inspired by my online discovery of this shirt:

Feel free to post your own embarassing pop T confessions.

I'm seriously considering getting the "Don't Be Ellis" t-shirts sold over at Cafe Press. Just to see if anyone gets it when I'm out and about on Saturday night. And I've got two Married with Children realted t-shirts. One being "NO MA'AM" the other being "#33 Polk High"

I can tell ya The Venture Bros related one went down well.

Was this inspired by the resurrection of Moltisanti's blast against Devin's wardrobe (or lack thereof)?

I'm on the verge of starting a small business venture with some friends creating pop culture t-shirts, so i'd love some good suggestions from this thread to steal them

If you make a t-shirt featuring the infamous 1975 NY Daily News front page which features the headline "FORD TO CITY: DROP DEAD" I will so buy it...at a resonable price.
The intent is to sell to local crowds. So i need recognizable shit. And funny.
Well then, I'm out of ideas. Perhaps there are local Argentine shows you can steal logos from. Kind of like they do over at Bustedtees.
I have a "Don't Be Ellis" coffee mug that I bought about a year ago when my West Wing one broke. I love it.

This and books are the two things that I spend more money on than I should, and I've got a couple that I really like. Think Geek has some great shirts -- I got this one when I redid my wardrobe at the start of the summer -- and I love my "Say Hi To Your Mom For Me" with a sketch of Original Biff.

I have the Carcetti for Mayor and "I Drink Your Milkshake"* shirts from Busted Tees, although I'm not a fan of their other stuff.

*For all the discussion of this line being overexposed, very few people have gotten the reference.
I knew no one would get "Carcetti for Mayor". I also have my "I believe in Harvey Dent" t-shirt which I got from the 3/22 street ralley.

May I suggest putting pictures of the beautiful Argentinian women on your shirts instead? You'd be printing money.

How about:

"Thatcher was right"

bound to be a big seller in las malvinas.
I need to get this one.

The closest thing to a "pop culture" t-shirt I have is one with Bebop and Rocksteady on it.

I once saw a "WWJD" shirt, but with Jason's hockey mask in lieu of the "J". Wish I remembered what website it was.

ETA: Where can I get some The Wire tee's?
I have a "Dick in a box" shirt, with instructions on how to make said gift, a couple of Miller Lite shirts, but those are name related. A couple of band shirts (Beatles, Floyd, Pixies, etc) a Bob Ross shirt, a Ghostbusters shirt, and then a bunch of plain t-shirts or polo shirts. Pretty extensive business professional wardrobe, but that's probably a different thread.
I have a whole series of propaganda tees including the awesome "Obey Propaganda" shirt and this to show my love for Jeff Smith. Other then that it's all Tommy Bahama stuff.
I have a friend with his own t-shirt press, and he's making me some of my designs. This one should be done soon:

and hopefully these ones won't be too far behind:

That is FUCKING AWESOME!

And I'd love to come up with a GCPD Major Crimes Unit t-shirt.
Matter of fact, Steve and Barry's contains a whole shitload of pop-culture t-shirts within its walls. One that I have is gray with yellow lettering that says Kazakhstan: Its Nice! with the Kazakh flag on it. Lulz.

Doing a Cafe Press shirt for "The Wire" usually yields a lot of results, though quality and cleverness may vary. The Carcetti Mayor shirt I have is from Busted Tees, and TWOP/Glarkware had an Omar one that they discontinued.
Was anyone selling a "I AM THE AMERICAN DREAM" t-shirt?

Not that I saw, but as a goof I did a couple of these designs from Custom Ink. I didn't order them, though, because what the hell am I going to do with six shirts like that?
Is the Clay Davis one just a Cafe Press design? I love it to pieces.
I seriously would love a bunch of the innards of the "fan made movie posters" thread on shirts. Some of those are fucking awesome.
When I went to the live version of Cinematic Titanic. Someguy had a Citizen Kane t-shirt on. Apparently he makes them himself and just gives them out to people.
This is the only one I own.
Heh, pretty clever.
I have one that says "Put that coffee down. Coffee's for closers." I got it from some website somewhere.
Once agian, awesome. I don't think I'd wear it in public but a "What's my name? Fuck you, that's my name" t-shirt would also be great.

Fright Rags- http://www.fright-rags.com/index.php...e41755ed20f531

They make good stuff, although I wish the guy wouldn't put FRIGHT RAGS on the back of every shirt. Got a bunch, and probably eventually going to have to get this one- http://www.fright-rags.com/index.php...roducts_id=161

I've only gotten the Basket Case shirt so far and it doesn't have Fright Rags on the back. Did they start doing that?
I remember this one site that actually had t-shirts with the covers of John Holmes' porno movies. No joke, actual Johnny Wad covers on the t-shirt. Man, nothing says class like those.

Hmm. Don't know. My Cujo and They Live shirts both have'm. Maybe enough people complained so that he changed them.

What Would Guy In Generic Hockey Mask That's Supposed To Represent Jason's But Really Looks Nothing Like it (Seriously, How Fucking Hard Is It) Do?

He's missing at least the red triangle, right?

Question (for everyone who reads this thread who might answer): I've found shirts at Fright-Rags, Cafe Press, Busted Tees and Mule Design I'm interested in buying.

How do the sizes range for each of those? Like, if I'm usually a Medium for normal t-shirts I buy at the mall or stores, should I go higher for one, lower for another or the same size?

Answers appreciated in advance! Thanks!
Busted Tees are made by American Apparel, who I've found tend to make shirts a little bit tighter and heavier than other places. I have an "Attention Ladies: I Enjoy Grey's Anatomy"** shirt from them that's a medium, my usual size, and is kind of snug. But the Carcetti shirt is also a medium, and that fits fine. Maybe it's my shame.

**A gift.

I'm finding shirts at all these sites that i want to buy. This is bad.
I like a lot of the shirts at http://www.lastexittonowhere.com/

Especially the WGON and various Coen Bros. shirts.
There are some amusing shirts on The Onion's site. My favorite is the one with Che Guevara wearing a Che Guevara shirt.
I'm short on pop culture shirts, but my friend has a "Pierce & Pierce: Murders and Executions" shirt that's pretty neat.

I think Nick was the one who pointed out the "Outpost #31: America Research Station" shirt. If I was gonna own one pop/cul shirts, that'd be the one.
I have a lot of pop culture tees now thanks to the free swag I get at my part-time projectionist gig. This includes the Hulk, a nice I Am Legend shirt (all black, with the logo in silver), and a Superbad shirt that is a copy of McLovin's shirt in the movie.

I have a Coco Puffs shirt, a Transformers one (Decepticon logo). I think my worst though is a shirt featuring the Southeast US with the phrase "It's Always Dirtier Down South."

Yeah, it's naughty.

As soon as this place creates a satellite store in the states I'm all over it. I've wanted shirts from them for a while but not way I'm paying that amount for a shirt and shipping. I love shirts with fictional logos and places. I'd probably buy nearly every shirt they have.

Right now I'm wearing a Gunga Diner shirt from Watchmen. I also bought the Rum Runner shirt from Watchmen.

I've bought shirts from here before:

http://www.novemberfire.com/shirtcf1.html
http://www.novemberfire.com/mainhub.html

There's a lot of good ones,
and they are heavy/old school quality shirts (that run a little large in size. I got a medium).
Lots of good vintage horror/occult shirts...
