First details and screenshots. I really like what they're showing so far, here's to hoping the fighting system is plenty of fun.

those pics truly look bad ass. but they are just pics.
Batman: Arkham Asylum looks like the first great Batman game since Atari's Batman side scroller from 1990.
Is it a fighting game? A beat em up?
Supposedly it plays like Bioshock ... supposedly.

I assume all licensed tie-in games are complete shit until proven otherwise. I find it hurts less.
Color me intrigued. It has to be better than the game-length tutorial that was Batman Begins, right? I love the shot of Killer Croc towering over Bats.
I am cautiously optimistic. I had always hoped for a Crackdown/GTA-style Gotham city for Batman to operate within, but this seems like it could be pretty damn cool.

Lots more info on the game here.

Supposedly Pandemic is working on an open world Batman game, based on The Dark Knight. And from the word thats leaked out to various sites it's crap.
They're saying all the right things, that's for sure, and the screenshots look fantastic.

Have you guys learned nothing? NOTHING?!?

I didn't say "This will be brilliant!" did I?
Overlord is the only one having the sensible reaction here. Assume that it will be completely booger. If it turns out to be any good, you can be pleasantly surprised. But it won't. It's a Batman game.
An even better reason to get excited.

Mark Hamill voices The Joker
If you've followed Mark Hamill at all, you know quite well that his participation is very far from being a guarantee of quality. A fighting game is not going to be made or broken by the voice acting.
clearly mark hamil as the joker is now gay.

heath ledger FTW!!!!!
Ah, i grew up on the Animated Series, so kinda in my mind hes just as much the Joker as Nicholson.

Perhaps using him is just an indication of how shitty the game is. Using his name just to get people interested. Along with this and the excellent screen shots, i feel they are actually trying to make something of some bit of quality and not a quick cash in.

Nicholson my ass! Ceasar Romero, bitches!
For some reason, I heard that in full on, Dennis Hopper, Blue Velvet, "Pabst Blue Ribbon!" voice.
So Hamill and Kevin Conroy are confirmed today as Joker and Batman. I gots no problem with that. I wasn't exactly in the target demo for the animated series, but I always liked Hamill's Joker, and Conroy seemed pretty capable too.

Fingers still crossed for this.

That's right, get your hopes up. It will make it all the more delicious when they are smashed to bits.

Beat me to it- http://chud.com/articles/articles/17...IAR/Page1.html

I wish there were a code included that would turn on Batman's gravel voice.

Or make it a skill that you have to put points into.

"Dammit! I could have intimidated that mugger if I'd had two more GRAVEL VOICE levels!"
Didn't see another thread for this.

The collector's edition will be a hefty $100, but IT COMES WITH A BATARANG. Oh, yes.
Hmmm...based on the trailer, it looks like this is going to be pure stealth action. Anyone heard any different? Forgive me if that's a dumb question, this has been off of my radar up until five minutes ago.

I've heard stealth is like a third, action/fighting a third, the other third is the game rapes you at night and taunts you by calling you a nancy girl and making you go ass to mouth.

Haha

I can't wait to unlock shaky cam mode or Joker mode*. I wonder if there is any dog fighting in this game?

*You get a can of paint and Prince plays in the background. Try to destroy as many works of art as you can in a minute.
Maybe, Meat Loaf's Bat Out Of Hell could be playing during the fight against Killer Croc...as That would be cool.
Well there's never been a decent Batman video game ever made. In fact, most, if memory serves me, have been outright aweful, so i'm keeping my expectations for this pretty damm low. But, you never know it could turn out to be awesome.
History Buff, I enjoyed, Atari Games...Batman, a side scrolling beat em up based on...Tim Burton's, 1st Batman film.

Never been a decent Batman game? Like Fleed said, the first one on NES was good, if not really difficult, and Return of the Joker, also on NES, was an excellent side scroller.
Batman seems to be really roidin' it up in this game.
I thought Batman Returns for the SNES was pretty fun as a side scroller beat 'em up. I also remember enjoying another SNES title that was based off the animated series but I can't remember the name of it.

Adventures of Batman and Robin, I think David. I completely forgot that one. Damn fun, great graphics, and good use of the Batmobile.

I think you're being a little liberal in your use of the word "excellent".

For Return of the Joker? Hell no, it was excellent! Especially when you get to the final boss fight and Joker is on that huge tank and you're dealing with the required "find the safe spot" NES boss strategy. Seriously though, at the bare minimum it was a really fun side scroller with excellent graphics for the time.

It's my vote for best looking NES game ever, narrowly beating out Battletoads. Looked like an early SNES title.

Other than that ... it was a tedious memorization-fest with no forgivability. Like so many NES games.
The SNES "Batman Returns" was all kinds of awesome for a brawler back then(with no co-op), but I have to admit half of the fun was the Elfman score and beating the fuck out of "Fat Clown".

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/47317.html

Quick HD footage demostrating the gameplay in a challenge mode.

Now that i've seen this I do want.
Please let this game be good.
Batman Arkham Asylum is clearly a must buy for me.
Damn, that looks like fun. I'm still going to resist the urge to purchase it until after reading some solid reviews.

Oh, and Adventures of Batman & Robin on SNES was one of my favorites. The damn Scarecrow blimp level beat me, though.
Looks great on every level....lets hope the final product looks and is as polished....
I'm not even a big fan of Batman. But this game looks like some pure, unadulterated awesomeness!
Yeah, I'll throw in my two cents and say this looks like a lot of fun.
If the A.I. is top notch then it certainly will make for a very entertaining experience. I'm all about challenging game play.
Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it.

That's an awfully big "if".
The last Batman game I played was way back on SNES and from what i can recall it was pretty bad. So, I have no idea about anything Batman video game related after that. From what I hear most have been pretty terrible.
I had intentionally ignored everything about this game because Im still scarred by the horrible "Rise of Sin Tzu" for PS2 but then a friend of mine insisted I watch that five minute preview of the developer playing the stealth challenge section. Now I want to throw $60 bucks at my local gamestop while perched on a gargoyle.
