Ronald Reagan in 2008!

Thread Starter
Browsing YouTube on a lazy Sunday afternoon and I found Ronald Reagan's acceptance speech at the 1980 Republican convention.

I was amazed at how contemporary he sounded, even down to the statement that the US must become energy independant!

Substitute "Russia" for "USSR" and he could be referencing current events.

Should we be appalled or comforted?

You mean that we haven't really advanced in 28 years? I don't find that comforting.

It's more comforting than reflecting on the fact that, in terms of the history of civil rights in the Western world, we've actually regressed nearly 800 years, no?

A Bush or Clinton has been either President or Vice President since a few months after that video was recorded. Hopefully that will be changing soon.

Unless McCain picks Clinton as his running mate, you'll get your wish.

The only thing that would make this feed better would be his head exploding in a red mist.

What, that silly little document signed by some English king in 1215? We don't need that anymore, as it's both outdated and European. It was written with such a pre-9/11 mentality.
